While the character you select does affect your game progress in The First Descendant to a greater extent, one should also not underestimate the importance of weapons. As the game gets harder with each level, and more powerful bosses appear as you progress along, your grinding intensifies.
As such, to take on higher-level foes, you must arm yourself with tougher weapons. Thankfully, there is a weapon leveling system through which you can increase the offense and durability of your weapons. If you are looking to find out the maximum level you can achieve with your weapon, read this guide.
What’s the Max Level For Weapons?
The First Descendant features multiple progression systems to showcase your progress within the game. In the case of Weapons, your progression is represented by Weapon Proficiency and Weapon Level.
Weapon Proficiency of a weapon indicates the experience points you have gathered by killing enemies while equipping the weapon. On the other hand, weapon level shows your weapon stats, like damage output or fire rate of the particular weapon.
At the time of writing, the maximum Weapon Proficiency Level you can achieve is 40, and the maximum attainable Weapon level is 100. Increasing your Weapon Proficiency will help you unlock more weapon modules, eventually making them stronger. Meanwhile, increasing your Weapon Level will increase your weapon’s damage against enemies.
How to Increase Your Weapon Proficiency Level
To increase your Weapon Proficiency in The First Descendant, equip the weapon you want to level up and earn XP by completing activities. The more XP you will earn, the higher your Weapon Proficiency will be. Additionally, if you are looking for faster progression, you can consider open-world activities where you will find a higher number of enemies to defeat.
You can also use Weapon Proficiency Boosters to increase your Weapon Proficiency points by 30%.
How to Increase Your Weapon Level
To increase your weapon level in the game, you will need to visit a Workbench in Albion or any other safe zone like Kingston and Vespers. After visiting the Workbench, select the Weapon Level Transmission option, and choose the gun you are looking to upgrade. Make sure you have the required components and then confirm the transmission to complete the upgrade.
However, it's important to note that upgrading weapons in The First Descendant also requires Phase Exchangers obtained from Anais in Albion, which can be purchased using Gold and Super Alloy (obtained by dismantling Common and Rare weapons). Additionally, upgrading Ultimate weapons will require rare materials like Liquid Metal and Precision Phase Exchangers.
