Highlights
- Joel's house in Jackson, TLOU2, can be seen in the first game.
- Players keep discovering subtle details in both games, adding realism.
- Some fans debate if the house is the same, due to differences in environment.
The Last of Us fans are always looking for more hidden details in the games, and one fan has discovered that Joel's house in Jackson which players get to explore thoroughly in The Last of Us Part 2 can actually be seen in the first game, as well. While there are a number of reasons why both The Last of Us games are widely acclaimed by the community, the attention to detail remains by far one of the most praised aspects of the franchise.
It's been quite a few years since the release of both titles, and players still keep finding subtle details which is extremely easy to miss. For instance, a player recently discovered an interesting Seraphite detail in The Last of Us 2, which most players wouldn't have noticed. During the Chinatown Sniper encounter, players come across two Seraphites, out of which one of them will talk about their inexperience. However, what's notable is that the dialogues can be switched between the two at random, which adds an extra layer of realism to the game. Now, another player has discovered a neat detail in the first game.
In a new post on The Last of Us subreddit, user Imactuallysoconfused highlights an interesting aspect they discovered in the first game. In the final chapter of The Last of Us Part 1, which is named Jackson, players can actually see Joel's house in the background. Players get to see and explore Joel's house extensively in The Last of Us Part 2, but the fact that it was present in the first game as well is something many fans would've missed.
It is crucial to note that this is not present in the original or the remaster of The Last of Us and is in fact from The Last of Us Part 1. As other players have highlighted, Jackson is quite small and not as well detailed in the initial two versions, but The Last of Us Part 1 makes some significant changes to the game. It should be noted that the house is located quite far away, so players might have to use the debug mod on The Last of Us Part 1 PC version to get a r look at the house.
The Last of Us Fans Are Divided Over The Accuracy Of The Detail
While some fans have appreciated the detail, others have quite highlighted that it is possible that it is a different house but just looks similar. Some players noted that the pine tree which can be found near Joel's house in The Last of Us Part 2 is missing in the first game, which possibly suggests that the house might be different after all. That being said, a few fans added that there is a significant time gap between the two games, so it is possible that the environment might not be the same. Considering Naughty Dog's attention to detail in The Last of Us franchise, this actually doesn't sound like too far-fetched a theory.
