The Planet Crafter includes 13 fish species, some of which are harder to get than others.
The life forms you develop in The Planet Crafter start out as plant life like flowers and trees. Over time, however, you get access to insects and then fish. These fish start out in aquariums, but eventually you'll see them swimming around through the lakes and ocean of the main map.
Much like butterflies, you can discover and create over a dozen species of fish over the course of The Planet Crafter. Some you have to create in the incubator, some you can find in the wild, and a few you can only get through a few very specific methods.
How to Get Fish Eggs
If you want to get your hands on every fish species, there are a few methods you'll need to use.
Incubation
Just like with insect larvae (and frog eggs later on), you can use the incubator to turn the raw materials the planet gives you into fish eggs. To craft them, you'll need Phytoplankton A, B, or C; Mutagen T2 or T3; and Fertilizer T1. You must also have access to a species blueprint for this method to work. See below for which recipes create which eggs, and when they unlock.
Water Life Collection
Fish eggs sometimes spawn in a Water Life Collector instead of phytoplankton. Which eggs appear depends on where you place the collector: some eggs only appear in certain bodies of water, and some lakes and streams will only ever give you phytoplankton.
Space Trading
One fish species is available through the Space Trader Rocket and nowhere else. The eggs cost more than a few Terra Tokens, but the species has the same multiplier as the golden fish.
Every Fish Species in The Planet Crafter
- If a species is "hidden," it'll never show up on the Incubator's recipe list. However, you can use the Incubator to create a hidden fish species as soon as you have the needed ingredients.
- You may be able to get fish eggs from biomes not listed below. However, fish eggs of the listed species definitely appear in the biomes in the "Where to Collect" column.
- Just like with butterfly larvae, if you don't get the fish eggs you want from the Incubator, you can throw them into the Recycler and then reuse the raw materials to try again. The species you get from a specific recipe is random, although you can never produce a species you haven't unlocked.
- You can find unique tree seeds and frog eggs while exploring procedural wrecks, but never any kind of fish eggs.
