A Final Fantasy 14 player has discovered a quirk in the new expansion Dawntrail's Solution Nine city that's causing Warriors of Light to defy gravity. The new Final Fantasy 14 expansion has been out for a little over a week, and despite the longer-than-usual wait for this one, there are still some issues that players are running into.
Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail officially launched early in July to massive success, despite some initial player concerns about its story, pacing, and overall gameplay experience. The game has already recorded over 62,000 concurrent players around the world, a peak that hasn't been seen since the initial A Realm Reborn relaunch back in 2013. The current spike in players has led Square Enix to reintroduce measures to combat over-congestion on its servers, such as auto-disconnection after 30 minutes of idling.
Final Fantasy 14 player hellostal on Twitter shared footage of their character being able to climb thin air in the new city area Solution Nine. In the footage, their Lalafell character and another player can be seen jumping and "landing" on nothing, which allows them to climb even higher to get to a vantage point overlooking the city. The fact that another player character can be seen standing on air means that this bug wasn't specific to hellostal's copy of the game, and that others can recreate the glitch themselves.
Other Current Bugs and Issues In Final Fantasy 14
However, this particular glitch is nothing compared to bigger bugs that have plagued Dawntrail so far. Those on Xbox have reported not being able to interact with the rest of the in-game world after moving between areas, while others have complained about the game freezing during Duties, which are dungeon, boss, or raid runs that require teamwork with other players.
Dawntrail also has an exploit in one of the new boss Trials, in which an intended debuff during the fight doesn't process properly. While definitely not as negative compared to the game's other issues, those who pride themselves on beating Dawntrail's new challenges fair and square might take issue with a hard fight not being as difficult as promised.
Another recent bug involved an old Alliance Raid from the original A Realm Reborn. A glitch in one of the Syrcus Tower raid's bosses made them nearly unbeatable after one of the fight mechanics suddenly stopped providing the expected shelter from a big party-wiping move. While experienced players have been able to defeat the boss before it gets to that point in the fight, most of those who do the raid are newer subscribers still going through the story.
