Datamined assets from Wuthering Waves hint at an imminent port of Kuro Games' open-world action RPG for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Users have been eagerly awaiting the chance to enjoy the iconic fast-paced combat found in Wuthering Waves on consoles since its release on May 22 for PC and mobile devices. Almost two months after the game's explosive debut, a pair of leaked art assets from in-game files indicate that fans might soon get their wish.
It's difficult to oversell the massive splash Wuthering Waves created in the gacha gaming community in the weeks following its launch. Even before its release, the game was touted by fans as the first proper competitor to HoYoverse's Genshin Impact. Though it had a somewhat buggy debut, Wuthering Waves still managed to live up to many players' expectations, standing toe-to-toe with some of the industry's biggest gacha titles. Furthermore, data has indicated that Wuthering Waves is already on track to overtake Genshin Impact in terms of monthly revenue, despite the fact that it has yet to tap into the massive console market.
However, the console market may not go untapped for much longer if the most recent leak is to be believed. Dataminers discovered a pair of PlayStation Network icons hidden within the game's files, which could be a sign that Kuro Games is putting the finishing touches on the highly anticipated console release for Wuthering Waves. Notably, the icons seem to indicate that the gacha title will be ported to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. With that said, no concrete launch date has been given, so porting the entire open world of Wuthering Waves could still take quite some time.
Wuthering Waves' PlayStation 5 Version Will Be On Par With PC
A PlayStation port was previously announced at Unreal Fest Shanghai 2023, but developers have remained tight-lipped regarding the status of its development. However, Kuro has stated that Wuthering Waves' console version will be of similar quality to the desktop experience. The PlayStation 5 version in particular will reportedly feature graphical fidelity on the same level as the Ultra preset on PC.
While it might still be a while before the game is released on PlayStation, Wuthering Waves has plenty of upcoming content to keep its current player base happy for a long while. Most notably, Patch 1.1 Part 2 is scheduled to release on July 22 and will feature the debut of a new banner for the highly anticipated five-star sword wielder Changli.
