YouTube celebrity IShowSpeed has been banned from the site after his recent sports car stunt video allegedly violated Community Guidelines. Though the streamer is known for his chaotic content, he remains very popular across social media with millions of followers. IShowSpeed has since addressed the ban, given how YouTube is his main platform for streaming.
Darren Jason Watkins Jr., otherwise known as IShowSpeed or simply Speed, is one of YouTube's biggest channels with over 27 million subscribers. The creator is known for his gaming and IRL streams, which sometimes go haywire and get him in dangerous situations. Last month, IShowSpeed was mobbed by his fans while streaming in Europe and had to pay $50,000 to repair his cars. As controversial as his content is, the streamer continued to post content on YouTube regularly. Now, however, Speed has been forced to pause his streaming schedule over a ban.
On August 5, IShowSpeed's editor shared on Twitter a screenshot of Speed's Channel dashboard, revealing that YouTube had given them a strike for violating Active Community Guidelines. The video that reportedly caused it had IShowSpeed jumping over two sports cars, a Lamborghini and a McLaren, coming at him at full speed during a livestream. Although this is not his first time jumping over a supercar in a YouTube video, this stream has been removed from Speed's channel, and the creator is reportedly banned for two weeks, according to a verified fan account on Twitter. The streamer is no stranger to being banned on major platforms. Earlier this year, IShowSpeed was banned by PlayStation and he was once banned from Twitch for two years.
YouTube Temporarily Bans IShowSpeed
Following the ban, IShowSpeed published a video of himself commenting on the matter. "Hey guys, if y’all are watching this right now, I’m banned on YouTube on my main channel,” he said. “I cannot stream or do anything, guys. I just wanted to let y’all know. I love y’all.” Users can still navigate through Speed's main channel, but they will not see any new content for the time being. The creator has reportedly appealed the ban, but there's been no further update. Last year, Twitch lifted IShowSpeed's permaban and now some fans are speculating he could make a comeback on the platform after this YouTube break, but that seems unlikely considering how Speed seems content where he is.
In 2022, IShowSpeed became YouTube's most-watched streamer, and he has since constantly risen in popularity. He now focuses on having his fans witness his travels and adventures through IRL streams. Speed has shared his intentions of visiting Southeast Asia and the Middle East in the upcoming months. If his YouTube ban is lifted as expected, fans can expect more content from the 19-year-old streamer.
