- Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fans occassionally create side activities, like one player teaching Moblins basketball.
- The player used Link's Ultrahand powers to create makeshift hoops and then manipulated some NPCs, making Moblins and Bokoblins play basketball in a humorous clip.
While Link usually spends his time fighting enemy Moblins, one playful Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fan is instead teaching them to play basketball. Just like Breath of the Wild before it, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom puts players in a vast open world filled with side activities that serve as a detour from the game’s main quest, and some have even managed to make their own fun by manipulating NPCs and building structures with Link’s new Ultrahand powers.
Some more mischievous players have used these abilities to torment NPCs like the Korok, while others are content to simply show off their fun Tears of the Kingdom vehicles and contraptions. The range of these creations is about as vast as Hyrule itself, with seemingly no limit other than a gamer’s imagination. While many of these fan-made Tears of the Kingdom vehicles and devices are built to lend a helping hand to Link’s quest to defeat the evil Ganondorf and save the kingdom once again, sometimes even a hero of legend needs to take a break and enjoy a recreational sport with his would-be enemies every once in a while.
A Reddit user by the handle of MRKDGAMING recently shared an amusing clip of Link coaching two teams of Moblins in an impromptu game of basketball on r/tearsofthekingdom. Instead of trying to kill the hero of Hyrule, these Moblins throw balls and even their smaller Bokoblin allies into makeshift basketball hoops the player had constructed. As noted by some other users in the comment section, MRKDGAMING was able to achieve this humorous sight by placing a certain Zonai device on the backboards of the baskets and wearing Major’s Mask so that the enemies don’t notice Link.
Moblins Take To The Hoops In A Funny Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Clip
Other Reddit users have enjoyed MRKDGAMING’s clip, with some comparisons being made to the Monstars from Space Jam and some fans noting the humor of the creatures that usually drive fear into the people of Hyrule taking a break for a friendly game of basketball. MRKDGAMING even includes a score between the two Moblin teams (determined by their colors), with the Black team almost winning 7 to 2 before ultimately being disqualified and promptly destroyed by Link’s bombs.
Makeshift sporting events are nothing new for the modern Legend of Zelda fan base, as some players had previously taught enemies like the Lizalfos how to play soccer using Remote Bombs in Breath of the Wild. This flexibility has only grown with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which has managed to become one of the Nintendo Switch’s most successful releases thanks to its wide range of side activities and surprisingly deep crafting mechanics.
