Bangboo are quite useful companions in Zenless Zone Zero when it comes to their combat utilities. Bangboo, acting as invaluable support units, provide various benefits through their active skills, passive abilities, and chain attacks. Understanding which Bangboo are the most effective can significantly impact your success in battles, making it crucial to identify and prioritize the best ones.
However, when deciding on which Bangboo might be the best to choose, players shouldn't be only looking at their base stats and rarity but also look at how well its abilities synergize with your team's composition and strategy. Some Bangboo offer general utility that can be beneficial in most situations, while others provide specific boosts that enhance particular elements or attacks generally based on team compositions. By categorizing Bangboo into tiers based on their overall performance and utility, players can easily identify the top performers and ensure they are using the most powerful and synergistic Bangboo available. However this tier list is highly bound to change with future character releases, as some Bangboo are simply not performing as well in combat as some other due to the limited amount of characters that can use them as of now. Overall, the decision to use one or the other, especially on the same tier, depends highly on which characters players have in their roster.
T0 Bangboo
This set of Bangboo consists of entirely S-Rank Bangboo as of now, based on their current usability.
- Amillion: Useful for teams using at least two Cunning Hare characters, in particular, Nekomata, Billy and Nicole, being one of the best F2P Bangboo for utilizing starter characters, especially if players have obtained Nekomata as well.
- Butler: Another Bangboo that is relatively easy to have the condition fulfilled, since Corin is a F2P character as well. Even without condition unfulfilled to activate passive, he can generally provide energy to active character, making it a versatile option. If players obtain Rina or Lycaon from standard poll, becomes particularly useful with its passive. Also useful for Ellen teams, since Lycaon is one of her best team members eitherway.
- Sharkboo: Another great Bangboo option specifically for Ellen teams, but players who use Lycaon and Soukaku with any other DPS can still benefit significantly from it.
- Safety: Belobog Heavy Industries has many synergetic characters for this Bangboo, considering it also covers Fire and Electric attributes in one Bangboo utility, it can prove to be quite useful, without needing to rely on mono-element teams, as long as at least two characters from this faction is used.
- Resonaboo: Similar to Butler, has a general utility, allowing for some crowd-control. If players obtain Zhu Yuan and combine her with Nicole, the utility of this Bangboo is increased much further. However, there are currently no other characters from Ether element, making its use-cases quite limited.
T0,5 Bangboo
In this tier, players will notice some A-Rank Bangboo alongside S-Rank ones, due to their versatile utility in various team compositions:
- Rocketboo: Best choice for players who have Soldier 11 (especially when paired with Koleda), quite a strong DPS unit that can have mono-Fire team compositions even on launch.
- Plugboo: As Electric is another team that can currently be fully built as mono-element, Plugboo can be quite useful, while featuring strong characters like Rina or Grace, and F2P options like Anby,
- Magnetiboo: Brings crowdcontrol utility which can be quite useful, while for passive skill activation, it only requires one Anomaly character, making it quite an easy condition to fulfil.
- Bangvolver: On it's own, quite useful for Physical teams, however, considering that currently there are only 4 Physical characters, with 3 of them taking Attack role except for Piper, its utility is quite limited on launch.
- Booressure: Another generally versatile Bangboo, as it generates Energy, and its passive needs players to have atleast 1 support character in the team, which makes it quite easy to activate for more Energy regeneration.
- Exploreboo: Another versatile Bangboo that will either heal, shield or otherwise give Energy to characters, and similarly to Booressure only needs 1 support character to increase the value of the buff. While in early content defensive play including healing or shielding may not look useful, in harder content in particular it can come in quite handy.
T1 Bangboo
These Bangboo see even less utility than before, however they might still be quite useful in certain situations, or team compositions especially if players have access to their core upgrades:
- Avocaboo: A healer Bangboo that can be quite useful when tackling tough opponents, however the heal amount being somewhat limited to 15 times per combat makes it not as useful for long lasting battles with many waves.
- Penguinboo: Similar to Sharkboo, however lower multipliers. Generally, for similar conditions (Especially those that Ellen can fulfil with same team compositions) there are better options, making Penguinboo not as useful.
- Paperboo: Creates a shield if there is a Defense character in team, however considering that Ben is currently the only option, its use cases are one of the most limited.
- Electroboo: Same as Plugboo, however A-Rank Bangboo with lower multipliers. If players have core upgrades, can perform quite similarly, especially if players prefer to choose other S-Rank for the Gacha.
T2 Bangboo
While players may be getting a lot of core-upgrades for these Bangboo, as of now their utility is quite limited, so players ideally do not spend a lot of resources to level them up:
- Devilboo: Primarily on a lower bracket due to there not being enough Ether characters, but even than compared to Resonaboo, doesn't provide any crowd control like utility, making it not have a direct comparison between options like Sharkboo and Penguinboo.
- Boollseye: While characters like Zhu Yuan, Grace and Billy in particualr can use this Bangboo, it doesn't provide any significant buff for them, while they all have much better options.
- Cryboo: Generally set as a lower tier, considering that the characters that can use Cryboo has much better options as of now like Rocketboo or potentially Safety.
- Sumoboo: Could be considered useful for Stun characters, but generally speaking its better to focus the Bangboo utility to the main-DPS character or Bangboo that does teamwide benefits. However, it can occasionally interrupt enemies, which can sometimes come in handy, though also somewhat blocking the Dodge Counter opportunity.
- Bagboo: Quite versatile as it only needs any kind of Attack character in the team, but it doesn't any utility, and simply does DMG.
