Zenless Zone Zero: Star-Studded Cast Banner Guide

The Star-Studded Cast banner in Zenless Zone Zero serves as the standard Gacha system where players can obtain a variety of high-rarity characters and W-Engines. While they may not at all times amount to limited-time banner characters or W-engines, it is an excellent way for players to build a robust roster, while considering synergies between certain characters. The pity system ensures that even with less than optimal luck, players will eventually obtain high-rarity items.

The inclusion of a diverse array of 5-star characters and W-Engines means there is something valuable for every type of player, whether you need a powerful attacker, a steadfast defender, or a versatile support character. This guide will delve into the mechanics of the banner, including the pity system, drop rates, it's pool, and some other benefits this banner brings.

How to Pull On Star-Studded Cast Banner?

Zenless Zone Zero: Star-Studded Cast Banner Guide

Players will require to use Master Tapes, which is a special item player can obtain in various ways, such as progressing in the game's quest, levelling intra-knot, in-game shop and more. In particular during the launch version, players are given a large amount of this currency to help them build their desired rosters. Players can also exchange 160 Polychromes for 1 Master Tape.

While exchanging Polychromes might look tempting especially to get desired characters, this currency is best kept for Encyrpted Master Tapes, as they are for limited banners.

Pity and Drop Rates of Star-Studded Cast Banner

Zenless Zone Zero: Star-Studded Cast Banner Guide

Players can overview the details for drop rates in details section on the UI of the banner, while the pity is showcased directly on the screen on the side, allowing players to easier keep track of how many pulls they may need in total. However, there are additional details such as soft-pity which is not shown right away, and as such here's all players will need to know as far as this standard banner's pity and drop rates:

Pity System:

  • Soft Pity: The chances of pulling a 5-star Signal increases significantly after 75 pulls.
  • Hard Pity: Guaranteed 5-star Agent or W-Engine at 90 pulls.
  • 4-star Pity: Guaranteed 4-star Agent or W-Engine every 10 pulls.

Drop Rates:

  • 5-star (S-Rank) Signal: 0.6% (0.3% for Agents, and 0.3% for W-Engines)
  • 4-star (A-Rank) Signal: 9.4% (4.7% for Agents, and 4.7% for W-Engines)
  • 3-star (B-Rank) W-Engines: 94.3% (There are no B-rank Agents)

It's worth noting that, players generally have equal chance of receiving a character, or w-engine from this banner, meaning that if players have gotten S-Rank character for example, it doesn't mean that it is guarenteed to be a S-Rank W-Engine next time. That being the case, it may take quite a while until players get their desired characters or w-engines unless they are very lucky. However, there are some exceptions to this, being the first 50 pulls, and the 300 pull S-Rank Agent selector.

First 50 Pulls in Star-Studded Banner

Zenless Zone Zero: Star-Studded Cast Banner Guide

Instead of implementing a separate beginner banner like Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail had, The Star-Studded Cast banner incorporates a one-time only early pity system within the standard banner, where players are guaranteed a 5-star character within the first 50 pulls. Furthermore, the first 50 pull are 20% discounted, meaning it actually takes only 40 Master Tapes to reach pull, when players do 10 pulls at a time.

If players get lucky and get the character before their 50 pull completed, the pity will reset to the standard banner pity, being 90, and players won't be guarenteed another 5-star character at their 50th pull. On the other hand, the 20% Discount pulls still last until first 50 pulls are completed.

300 Pull Character Selector

Zenless Zone Zero: Star-Studded Cast Banner Guide

One of the most significant features of the Star-Studded Cast banner is the 300 pull character selector, quite similar to what Honkai: Star Rail has. Once players have accumulated a total of 300 pulls on this banner (which also includes the first 50 pulls within it) they will be able to choose the 5-star standard character they wish to get, and will be given this character directly regardless of their current pity.

Additionally, this selector doesn't reset the pity, as it is separate from the pulls, and not simply a guarantee for the next pity's reach. Unfortunately however, it is also one-time only, meaning that once completed, players won't be able to start over the counter for another 300 pulls. Nevertheless, while it may take a while to get to 300 pulls, especially as F2P, it is a good opportunity for players to have a character they may have not been able to obtain.
