2024’s BAFTA Game Awards are here and Baldur’s Gate 3 has once again won big, walking away with five awards. Well, that’s in so much as a video game can walk anywhere. In reality, it’s developers Larian Studios who must be pleased as punch with this victory.
Baldur’s Gate 3 beat the likes of Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and more, bringing this turn-based RPG’s number of awards up to a staggering 32. And that’s all in the nine months since its August 2023 release.
The game’s last big win was at the Game Developers Choice Awards, where it won Game of the Year, Best Design, Best Narrative and the Audience Award. So what did Baldur’s Gate 3 get at the 2024 BAFTA Game Awards? It won a mask-on-a-stick each for:
- Best Game
- Music
- Narrative
- Performer in a Supporting Role (Andrew Wincott as Raphael)
- EE Players’ Choice Public Award
Those wins were thoroughly deserved. Despite our massive gaming backlog, we still find time to dip into Baldur’s Gate 3 every now and then. We’re eyeing an all-new run, but we’re cautious of just what a time-sink that would be.

It’s a great game, absolutely, but what really elevates is the characters you encounter, both your party members and the ones who drift in and out of your story. Neil Newbon did miss out on Best Leading Performer for his role as Astarion, but we’re not going to begrudge Nadji Jeter his win for Miles Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, an equally excellent (if less acerbic) performance.

Larian praised its staff, remarking “We are so proud of our entire team – none of this would have been possible without their hard work and dedication!”. And, as far as we know, all of those staff still have a job with Larian. Just saying.

- Animation – Hi-fi Rush
- Artistic Achievement – Alan Wake 2
- Audio Achievement – Alan Wake 2
- Best Game – Baldur’s Gate 3
- British Game – Viewfinder
- Debut Game – Venba
- Evolving Game – Cyberpunk 2077
- Family – Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Game Beyond Entertainment – Tchia
- Game Design – Dave The Diver
- Multiplayer – Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Music – Baldur’s Gate 3

- Performer In A Supporting Role – Andrew Wincott (Baldur’s Gate 3)

Baldur’s Gate 3 has received a host of updates and tweaks since its original release, so if you’ve not played it a while, now’s the time to dive back in. As for Larian Studios’ next project? We know it’s not going to be Baldur’s Gate 4, but we have our fingers crossed they’ll knock that one out the park too.
