Baldur’s Gate 3’s Devs Want You to Stop Stealing Minthara’s Clothes

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Devs Want You to Stop Stealing Minthara’s Clothes

During your last Baldur’s Gate 3 run did you knock Minthara unconscious and then steal the dark elf’s clothes? Then you’re terrible and you should feel terrible.

That’s according to the lead writer for Baldur’s Gate 3 who’s expressed his frustration that Minthara later has to turn up in her underwear. To be fair, she does have some awesome armour which, in my first playthrough, Astarion ended up wearing. And she was trying to murder a whole grove full of druids.

The underwear issue is one of the topics brought up in a recent IGN interview, which sees writer Kat Bailey sitting down with Larian Studios’ CEO Swen Vincke and Baldur’s Gate 3 lead writer Adam Smith. And if you are a Minthara fan it’s a real eye opener.

You might have missed it on your playthrough but, as Vincke and Smith point out, Minthara puts your own Baldur’s Gate 3 actions under the spotlight. If you’re playing as an evil or mean character, she can call you out on your actions. Say you murder your way through the grove, and later free Minthara from the control of the Absolute? She’ll have some stern words for you. She was brainwashed, but what was your excuse for the slaughter?

That’s just one of the topics discussed in the spoiler-heavy IGN interview which is a great eye-opening read. If you’ve finished the game and want a deep dive into the game’s characters, endings and other aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3, you should absolutely check it out here.
