Disappointed about the closure of Pac-Man 99? Don’t fret too much – another multiplayer Pac-Man title is on the way.
Today, Bandai Namco has announced Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs. It might be one of the most convoluted and ridiculous names for a game yet, but when it promises action-packed Pac-Man multiplayer battles, we’re not going to complain too much.
In the online-only Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs, up to 64 players will compete against each other, chomping power pellets to eat ghosts and competitors. Oh, and the action won’t be confined to one maze – after chomping their way through the one they’re in, players will need to tunnel into another one with another competitor to overcome. Sometimes players will need to simply escape their own maze as well if its starts flashing, indicating that it’s going to drop out of existence.
Those jumping into Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs will be able to determine their level of competition, entering Ranked and Elimination matches if they really feel up to the challenge. Otherwise they can make use of the Friends system to make things a little more casual. Players will be able to Spectate matches, too.
Perhaps the best thing about Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs is that unlike Pac-Man 99, it’s going to be available on pretty much every format currently available. So, whether you have a PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch or PC, you’ll be able to jump right in. The game will support cross-play as well, ensuring that it should be easy to find a match and play with friends across platforms.
