VR game C-Smash VRS is leaving the confines of virtual reality: a standard, ‘flat’ version is coming to PlayStation 5 this summer.
A reimagined version of arcade classic Cosmic Smash, C-Smash VRS is essentially a futuristic racket sports game, challenging players to hit a ball, smashing into panels as they physically move around their available space. Of course, in bringing the game to a standard console experience, some elements will be tweaked in order to provide the best experience. But we’re still looking forward to see how the game carries over to a flat screen.
We loved C-Smash VRS when it first released on PSVR 2 last summer. Our C-Smash VRS review said “this is something you’ll likely return to many times, just for a quick burst of fun”. We also praised its futuristic-meets-retro visuals.
The best news is that, if you already own C-Smash VRS on PSVR 2, you’ll get the flat PS5 version as a free upgrade once it becomes available this summer. Called C-Smash VRS – New Dimension, it will also bring a range of new features to both VR and non-VR players. As for what those features are? We’ll have to wait and see.
Pre-orders for C-Smash VRS – New Dimension are available from today — and doing so will bag you the PSVR 2 version in the meantime. It’s also just launched on Meta Quest, although of course you’ll need the game on PS5 to enjoy the upcoming New Dimension version.
