News Cakey’s Twisted Bakery is a sweet FNAFalike and it’s free on Steam ByChris McMullen 6 July 20246 July 2024
Want a game that’ll scare your socks off, but won’t cost you a penny? Cakey’s Twisted Bakery, a horror game with big FNAF energy, is absolutely free on Steam right now.
Unlike Five Nights at Freddy’s, Cakey’s Twisted Bakery doesn’t chain you to a security booth, but it’s got the same kind of warped, mascot horror feel. You’re trapped in the realm of Cakey, a monster who’s been stealing kids and has made off your brother. In order to defeat him, you’ll need to complete various grim tasks, all while avoiding this gateau-based menace.
At least, that’s the theory. In practice, we spent a lot of time just hiding under counters or just taking in the bakery’s wonderfully messed-up aesthetic. Since this isn’t the real world, you’ll encounter twisted versions of diners (big sacks with mouths), feed flesh cubes into a baking machine and more. Turns out those missing children aren’t missing any more.

Cakey isn’t the only menace to face, despite the title. Cakey’s Twisted Bakery goes full-on mascot horror, with characters like Frostina, a lankier, female version of Cakey. We wouldn’t be surprised if developer TinyMindz is already working out a merchandising deal. Heck, we’d pay good money to have a model of Cakey sitting on our desks.
Cakey’s Twisted Bakery is free now on Steam, though you’ve only got a day to grab it before it jumps up to £8.00 on July 7th. So what have you got to lose? Other than the desire to ever eat cake again?
