Capcom may have left Dino Crisis to gather dust, but that hasn’t stopped other developers from creating their own dinosaur games. Code Violet, from Teamkill, is basically Dino Crisis in space and, even considering how janky previous title Quantum Error was, we’re certainly intrigued.

Code Violet casts you as Violet Sinclair, a “..a girl plucked from the past who must unravel the mysteries of the Aion Bioengineering Complex”. This is a company that’s literally kidnapping women out of time so you know they’re up to no good. Only Doctor Who’s titular time traveller is allowed to get away with that.

But, apart from those questionable activities, the company has also been breeding creatures who, while the blurb doesn’t name them as such, are basically dinosaurs. There’s a very Alien-like scene where we see a room full of eggs, so it’s clearly not just that they’re plucking them from the past.

As Violet, you’ll fight or flee from the creatures, who want to find out what your face tastes like. The first part of the trailer (which you can watch above) gives big Alien: Isolation vibes so you know that stealth, hiding included, is going to play a significant part in the game.

We also love how shlocky Code Violet looks, from its over-the-top baddie to those weirdly lavish research complex rooms. It’s as if Resident Evil’s Umbrella Corporation launched itself into space, and we’re absolutely here for that. Capcom has actually done dinosaurs in space with Dino Crisis 3, but it’s done precious little with the franchise since then.

Code Violet is set for a July release on PlayStation and you can find out more on TeamKill’s site here.
