Ed Boon has teased that Mortal Kombat 1’s Omni-Man gameplay trailer could be just round the corner, which suggests we’re getting the character this month.
‘Could’ is the operative word, since Ed Boon, Creative Director on Mortal Kombat 1, has been rather fuzzy with his hints. But, at the very least, it appears Omni-Man will be the first Kombat Pack fighter to arrive.
“OmniMan game play trailer will not be at New York ComicCon”, Boon tweeted. NY Comic Con runs between Thu, 12th Oct 2023 and Sun 15th Oct 2023 so either Boon is trolling or it’s arriving soon than that.

Omni-Man is a moustachioed superman, from the Invincible series, itself based on Robert Kirkman’s comic. He’s one of several fighters who’ll figure into the first Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack. The full line up is:
- Homelander
- Omni-Man
- Quan Chi
- Peacemaker
- Ermac
- Takahashi
Boon has also tweeted out a picture of several horror icons with some ticked off. Could it be that Kombat Pack 2 will have more horror bad guys? We’re still miffed we missed out on MK X having Freddy vs Jason. There have also been rumours that Shinnok is an upcoming character and that there’s a Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath-style expansion in the works.
For now, we’re going to be F5ing the official Mortal Kombat YouTube channel. And if you’re still on the fence about buying Mortal Kombat 1, check out our review.
