Elden Ring’s DLC has been accused of being too hard, to the point where it was getting negative reviews on Steam for just that. But some Elden Ring players are grumbling about a Shadow of the Erdtree weapon that makes things too easy, particularly when it’s mixed into the right build.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree introduces a new perfume bottle weapon, the Lightning Perfume Bottle, which is powerful enough in its own right. However, some players are maxing out its effects by combining it with other items.
Take this Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree build from YouTuber Caspahz. It mixes the bottle with Ash of War: Rolling Sparks, Howl of Shabiri and many other items. The result is a build that can annihilate some bosses in moments. Even with just Rolling Sparks, it “hits like a truck’ as one player puts it.
So why aren’t fans happy about this? Sure, you could label it ‘cheap’, but the game’s producer has already admitted to using all the aid he can. Surely, if someone wants to steamroller their way through the game and DLC they’ve paid for, that’s fine.
The problem is that some players are using these builds to invade other games. You can disable invasions but, typically, you hope you’ll last longer than five seconds. To some, this build is anything but fair.
“I keep trying to help people and every invader is using it and doing 1 shots. Literally does 25K+ dmg when buffed up,” explains Redditor Its_Syxx. “Ahhh an invade.. HES GOT PERFUMES”, adds another.
From Software will hopefully address this issue in an upcoming patch. That doesn’t necessarily mean nerfing Lightning Perfume Bottles in solo play, however. The game’s last major patch, which dropped around the time of Shadow of the Erdtree, contained some multiplayer-only rebalances.
In the meantime, if Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is kicking your bottom, and you’re fine with bosses weeping at your approach, this Lightning Perfume Bottle build is not to be sniffed at.
