Despite not being familiar with the franchise, we had a whole lot of fun playing through the Fairy Tail RPG when it released back in 2020. Now its developer Gust is hard at work on a sequel, with Koei Tecmo on publishing duties again. Announced at the latest Nintendo Direct, Fairy Tail 2 will launch this winter, and not just on Switch, either. Like the first game, it will also be available on PS4 and PC, with a PS5 version this time around, too.
Fairy Tail 2 will pick up where the last game left off, with the Fairy Tail guild going up against their greatest enemy yet – Zeref, the Emperor Spriggan of the Alvarez Empire. With him being protected by the Spriggan 12 and the Black Dragon, Acnologia, however, it’s not going to be easy.
In addition to Natsu and Lucy, more members of the Fairy Tail guild will be playable this time around. Character Stories will also be introduced, allowing players to learn more about their favourite characters. Along with other improvements such as enhanced 3D graphics, better combat and more seamless exploration, Fairy Tail 2 should prove to be a very enjoyable action RPG experience indeed.
