Featured Features Games to watch out for this June ByKim Snaith 4 June 20244 June 2024
It is June. How is it June? How? The passage of time is a funny old thing, and somehow we’re almost half way through 2024. June is a bit of a quiet month for new game releases, however. We’ve got a few big hitters to look forward to, at least, and two of the biggest are in fact expansions. Elden Ring fans may want to clean out their calendars from the 21st onwards, and Destiny 2 fans have reason to be excited right now, with The Final Shape launching today.
As always, our round-up of the games to watch out for this June isn’t exhaustive, but it’s our pick of the titles we’re most excited for this month.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape
- 4th June
- PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC
The Final Shape is bringing a whole new story arc to Destiny 2: it’s time to end the war between Light and Darkness. With a new campaign, upgraded rewards, new exotic class items and a whole lot more, it promises to be rather exciting. And for the first time ever, players can customise their own subclass by combining Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis and Strand. No need to wait, either: The Final Shape is available from today.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game
- 4th June
- PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC
Honestly, we sighed when Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game was announced. Yet another asymmetric multiplayer horror; like we’ve not got enough of those. But we played it, and actually, it’s rather enjoyable. Whether you’re playing as a Klown or a human, there’s fun to be had, with an interesting range of abilities and some pretty funny ‘Klownalities’ when you’re finishing someone off. In our review, we said there’s just enough of a twist on the tried-and-tested formula that matches are always interesting. What more could you want, really?
Rocksmith+
- 6th June
- PS4 and PS5
After being on PC for some time, Ubisoft’s Rocksmith+ is finally making its way to PlayStation consoles — some 10 years after the first Rocksmith first impressed us. Taking inspiration from Guitar Hero, Rocksmith+ allows you to connect real instruments to your console to learn how to play them. It’s compatible with guitar, bass guitar and keyboard and allows you to play along with a huge library of songs. You’ll need a subscription to get the most out of it, but there is a limited version for free so you can at least try it out.
V Rising
- 11th June
- PS5
It’s already on PC, but from next week, players will be able to jump into the vampire-flavoured RPG on PS5 too. V Rising lets players take control of their own vampire, on a hunt for blood in order to regain their strength. Featuring a gothic open world to explore, you can spend time rebuilding your castle or converting humans into your servants. Playable solo or online, this action RPG packs in a lot of content, and should hopefully be a treat for PS5-owning wannabe vampires.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
- 14th June
- PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC
If you’re an SMT fan, you’ll no doubt already be excited for the release of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. It’s essentially the definitive version of Shin Megami Tensei V, but with new content. Its visuals have been enhanced, it’s been expanded with new areas and new monsters, and many elements have been improved since the original, such as the battle system and its accessibility options. Undoubtedly, it’s going to be the best way to play, then.

Monster Hunter Stories 1 and 2
- 14th June
- PS4, Switch and PC
Although they’re two separate entities, we’re lumping Monster Hunter Stories 1 and 2 together. The second game is already available on Switch and PC, but come 14th June it’ll be available on PlayStation for the first time — while the first game, previously only available on 3DS, will be available on all three for the first time, with a complete graphical overhaul. In our Monster Hunter Stories 1 preview published last month, we said it’s shaping up to be a must-have for JRPG fans, and the sequel should be a treat, too.
Still Wakes the Deep
- 18th June
- PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC
We’re very excited to get our teeth stuck into Still Wakes the Deep, the latest game from Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture developers The Chinese Room. Set on an offshore oil rig in the North Sea during the 1970s, it promises tense atmosphere and unspeakable horrors. As a worker on the rig, you’ll find yourself trying to survive a storm that’s taken out all electricity and communications — and with an unspeakable terror now occupying the rig with you, getting to safety is all you’re going to care about. We can’t wait.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
- 21st June
- PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC
We’re pretty sure that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree really needs no introduction. 2022’s unanimous Game of the Year is getting its first DLC, giving players a brand new story to enjoy, a new area to explore and, of course, plenty of new foes to battle against. With new weapons, equipment, magic and more, Elden Ring has been made deeper than ever and… well, what more do you want to know, really? Roll on 21st June.

Banana Rumble is primarily a multiplayer game — a Super Monkey Ball battle royale, if you like. Up to 16 players can compete at any one time, racing against each other to complete each course.
