Here’s everything you need to know about completing the Village Project: Gear Loose and Fancy Free quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
It’s quite a mouthful, but the Village Project: Gear Loose and Fancy Free mission in Disney Dreamlight Valley is an important one to complete. Given to you by Scrooge McDuck, this mission will see you upgrade your Hourglass tool, which will allow you to find more treasures while you’re exploring.
It sounds pretty cool, right? We love finding treasure! And so, to get kicked off, simply talk to Scrooge McDuck. The quest won’t be available right away, so just keep playing until Scrooge has a quest available to you. Once you’ve spoken to him, he’ll tell you about a weird and wonderful machine he’s heard of that can do gardening for you. Sounds interesting! But first things first: you need to upgrade your Hourglass.
How to upgrade your Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley
You can upgrade your Hourglass a number of times. Your other tools have been upgraded when a mission calls for it, but with your Hourglass, it’s your responsibility to upgrade it. To do so, head to a Timebending Table. In there, you’ll see an ‘Upgrade Hourglass’ button. Press it, and you’ll see what level you’re currently on. Zero, probably.
To upgrade your Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley to level one, you simply need to spend 5,000 Mist. Mist can be earned by completing missions and doing Mist Duties. If you need more help gaining Mist, check out our handy guide.
How to build an Ancient Machine
Once it’s upgraded, you’ll be tasked with building any Ancient Machine. There are three you can build to begin with: Basic Ancient Cooker, Basic Ancient Gardener and Basic Ancient Vacuum.
Each one requires slightly different materials, but the materials for all of them can only be found by using your Hourglass. Of course, the items you get when using your Hourglass are entirely random. We’d suggest building whichever item you find the pieces for first, but it’s up to you.
All Ancient Machines require 2x Ancient Core to build, and these seem to be the rarest of all ancient treasures. You will find them by using your Hourglass, but you’ll just have to be patient.
When you’ve built your Ancient Machine, go and place it in the Glittering Dunes (the desert area of Eternity Isle). You’ll find it in with Furniture, so press triangle/Y to bring up your inventory, and then toggle to ‘Furniture’.
Once it’s placed, go talk to Scrooge McDuck. That’s it: the Village Project: Gear Loose and Fancy Free quest is complete.
