Essentially an open world RPG, Skull and Bones lets you live out your pirate dreams. Starting with nothing, you need to secure a ship and then steadily upgrade it in order to be fearsome upon the seas. Aside from completing missions where you’re up against computer-controlled adversaries, you can take on others in PvP, too, and play in co-op. Needless to say, there’s plenty to see and do, so you’re going to want to make sure your progress is saved between sessions. But how do you do that? How do you save your game in Skull and Bones?
Being a game that requires you to be online to play, Skull and Bones employs an autosave system that records your progress for you. That’s not really out of the ordinary, but what it is is that there’s no manual save option whatsoever. You have to live with your actions and choices then – there’s no going back if you decide to engage a ship in combat and then end up worse off. With the ability to manually save stripped from you, you’re at the mercy of the game’s autosave system.
You don’t have to do anything to save your game in Skull and Bones, then. When you turn the game off, whether it’s by returning to the title screen or simply closing the application, your progress will automatically be saved for you. To be on the safe side, it’s probably better to quit the game when you’re at a port, though, or at least when you’re out of combat. That way, there shouldn’t be any surprises when you log back in.
