We didn’t expect to be so enamoured with a game that had us diving by day and running a sushi restaurant by night. But that’s exactly what Dave the Diver is, and we fell in love with it instantly. As did most people who played it, actually: its 55,000 reviews on Steam are “overwhelmingly positive”. If you’re yet to play this little gem of a game, we’ve got some good news for you: as of today, Dave the Diver is available on Switch. Hooray!
The Switch version of Dave the Diver doesn’t add any new content. It doesn’t need to, but it means if you’ve already played on PC you won’t find anything new here. Other than a decent excuse to play it again, this time on the go. Of course, it contains all free updates that have been added to the PC version so far, including the recent October update which added new missions and a new boss fight.
When we reviewed Dave the Diver, we called it a “rare and beautiful thing”, going on to say:
“A triumph in just about every way, Dave the Diver is undoubtedly going to be one of 2023’s biggest success stories. This gorgeous adventure keeps you hooked no matter what you’re doing. Whether you’re serving up sushi, catching fish or exploring the depths of the oceans for long-lost secrets, you’ll struggle to pull yourself away. We just love it. Even if it does leave us craving sushi – but it’s a small price to pay.”

And one of 2023’s success stories it is indeed: it’s sold two million copies on PC since its launch in July. And it’ll undoubtedly go on to dwarf that number with the release on Switch.
Now, Mintrocket, we just need you to release it on PlayStation and Xbox. Go on. Please.
The Switch version is available now via the eShop, priced at £16.99/$19.99. We promise you won’t regret diving into this one.
