Filled with jigsaws, block puzzles, logic challenges and even the odd spot-the-difference, Harmony’s Odyssey is a must-play for anyone who likes their grey matter to be gently tickled.
Vibrant and colourful, Harmony’s Odyssey genuinely jumps off the screen, with each environment brought to life in a sea of technicolour. It’s occasionally a little too busy, with each puzzle packed with so much detail it can be hard to see where to begin.
You see, the meat of Harmony’s Odyssey comes in the form of jigsaw-like block puzzles that see you placing pieces of a three-dimensional environment in the right location. Swap the location of two blocks until eventually, everything is in the right place. Connect a block to a correct neighbour, and you’ll be rewarded with a pleasing “ding”. But it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s in the right place overall. Mistakes aren’t always often to spot either, so you’ll need to be eagle-eyed and not afraid to undo your hard work to figure out what’s gone wrong.
Once you’ve pieced together an environment, you’ll be treated to some different types of puzzles that often see you moving through the world you’ve just constructed. Maybe you’ll be running from a dog in a bustling neighbourhood. Or maybe you’ll be puzzling your way around a football field, gathering together a team large enough to take control of the ball as you go. We’ve even had a spot-the-different puzzle thrown in.
It’s perhaps this variety of activities on offer in Harmony’s Odyssey that has captured our attention. Jigsaws alone would get repetitive and dull quickly. But the mixture of puzzle types, combined with the wealth of quirky and fun environments, ensures that your time with this game remains fun from start to finish.
Harmony’s Odyssey released on Switch and PC back in October 2022, but it’s now available on PlayStation and Xbox. Quaint, relaxing and a lot of fun, this lovely little puzzle game is well worth picking up if you fancy a change of pace.
