Just over six months since it launched, Starfield is set to get a major update that should make it a whole lot better to play. Arriving in just two weeks time on 15th May, it’ll be Xbox Series X that’ll perhaps be the happiest, with a 60fps mode finally being added to the game.
When playing Starfield on Xbox Series X, there’ll now be multiple display options for players to choose from. First, players can opt to target 30, 40, 60 or an uncapped frame rate when playing on a 120hz VRR capable TV. On a standard TV players will be able to target 30 or 60fps. Further to that, players can then choose to prioritise visuals or performance, but it’s recommended to prioritise performance if you’re wanting to play at 60fps or above.
This should come as excellent news for Xbox Series X owners who were previously put off by Starfield being locked at 30fps on the console. The truth is, however, that the upcoming major update is set to add a whole lot more. The update will include updated surface maps, for example, which will be more detailed. And new markers have been added in cities that will aid in locating vendors and suchlike. They can be used as fast travel points, too.
Other additions include new gameplay options such as survival features, new ship interior customisation options, and new game plus trait respeccing. Of course, this isn’t the end when it comes to Starfield updates, either. A new land vehicle is set to arrive in the future, and an expansion is on the way. Perhaps we might hear more about that in the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase?
