If you’re just about to jump into Steamworld Build, you’ll likely want to know what difficulty you should play on. Read on: we’ve got everything you need to know right here.
There are four difficulty levels to choose between in Steamworld Build. The one you select will affect several elements of the game, including how easy resources are to come by, how tough enemies are, and how much stuff costs.
You should think carefully before selecting a difficulty in Steamworld Build, as your experience will be very different from one setting to the next. It’s also important to point out that the easiest difficulty option, Sandbox, disables the ability to earn trophies and achievements. Let’s break down each of the four difficulties:
- Sandbox: This is the easiest difficulty in Steamworld Build, so if you want a totally relating experience Sandbox is the one to go for. You’ll have unlimited resources so you can focus on building without any of the stress. Remember, though, you won’t earn trophies/achievements, and landmark buildings won’t be available.
- Casual: This is a good option to choose if you’re a newcomer or generally unfamiliar with city building games. You’ll have a fairly easy time thanks ti plentiful resources, low costs and easy-to-defeat enemies.
- Balanced: This is the difficulty level that Steamworld Build’s developers intend for you to play. Essentially ‘normal’ difficulty, everything is balanced to provide a challenge without being too tough.
- Difficult: You should only choose this one if you’re a seasoned pro and already very familiar with the game. There are fewer resources, stuff is more expensive, enemies are tough and you won’t get any refunds if you need to demolish a structure.
So, when it comes to choosing what difficulty to play on in Steamworld Build, there’s no right or wrong answer. It entirely depends on what you want from the game. We’d recommend most players go for either Casual or Balanced, but if you’re a glutton for punishment, choose Difficult. Sandbox will be a good choice for players who have already beat the game’s campaign and simply want to revisit on their own terms.
