1. Lego City Undercover
Lego City Undercover is a blast on its own but it gets even better when you’ve got another player sharing the action, via split-screen mode. Grand Theft Auto V, fun as it is, is not exactly family friendly. But, thanks to Lego City Undercover, you can experience a lot of that game’s open-world action in a less bloodthirsty manner. Plus, hey, it’s Lego.

2. Untitled Goose Game
Patched in shortly after the original’s release, Untitled Goose Game is a great game for friends to watch, as your goose goes about harassing the residents of a sleepy countryside village. But with two geese, it’s all about co-operation, one distracting the poor citizens while the other indulges in some mayhem, whether that’s pinching someone’s keys, pecking the heck out of them or whatever takes your mean-spirited fancy.

3. Sackboy: A Big Adventure
Reviewing this delight, we called Sackboy: A Big Adventure “an immaculately made 3D platformer with huge amounts of charm”. And while it’s still not got the sequel it deserves, it’s as fantastic as ever. Throw in some celebrity voice-acting (Richard E. Grant and Dawn French included) and some co-op action and you’ve got hands-down one of the best family games on PS Plus Extra.

5. Moving Out 2
The follow-up to the already excellent Moving Out, Moving Out 2 is another multiplayer-heavy couch co-op friendly gem. You’ll be moving things in and out of houses, in a safe and respectful manner. Oh, who are we kidding? Just chuck it all in the van: if 75% of it arrives unbroken, it counts as a win. It’s that kind of chaos that makes this such a treat.

6. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
Remember the original Konami Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? We do, we’re so very, very old. But this brilliant beat ’em up, a spiritual successor to that title, is top tier. Yes, you’re punching people, but it’s all right, there’s no blood and the foot soldiers are all robots. It supports couch co-op as you might expect, but up to a ridiculous six players! If you’ve got a sofa big enough, get in on this action with the whole family.
