Are you ready to buy Skyrim all over again? Because this November, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition is Fus-Ro-Dahing its way onto PC and consoles.
As announced at Quakecon 2021 which, due to COVID-19, is online only, Skyrim’s Anniversary Edition will be arriving on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X. Aside from all the game’s three expansion packs, Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn, it’ll feature virtually every piece of Bethesda-approved content from the in-game Creators Club; 74 add-ons, with 500+ elements.
However, you don’t absolutely have to buy it again if you want the next-generation versions of Skyrim. Anyone who owns it on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will received the next-gen upgrade for free, as well as a new fishing feature, survival mode and a handful of new quests. PC owners get the latter two but, being PC-based, the next-gen upgrade doesn’t apply.
And if you’ve not experienced Skyrim (you can find our review here) the many, many times it’s been released, it’s a great opportunity to give it a go. Our biggest gripe is that the world’s NPCs seem inordinately interested in your affairs but it’s a lot of fun and we’ve plunged hour after hour into it.
Though, now we think about it, we’re also a little concerned about how this’ll work out for Creation Club creators. If the Anniversary Edition sells well, which you can reasonably expect it to, we suspect Bethesda have to won’t have pay the creators of the additional content a single extra penny.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – 10th Anniversary Edition is set to arrive this November 11th.
