Coming to cinemas soon, the first official trailer for the film adaptation of Until Dawn has finally landed. Those who were hoping that the film would closely follow the story of the game will be disappointed, however, as it appears to have a mostly fresh cast of characters as well as a new time-based twist.
The Until Dawn movie finds a young woman called Clover as well as her friends heading into a remote valley in order to find answers regarding what happened to her sister, Melanie, who mysteriously disappeared a year ago. Exploring an abandoned visitor centre, things go awry when a masked serial killer hunts them down and murders them one by one. But then they all wake up, back at the beginning of the same evening, only with more horrors to face ahead.
It appears that to escape the nightmare, Clover and her friends will have to do everything they can to survive until dawn. The trouble is, while they all awaken again at the start of the evening should they die, it appears that only so many deaths are possible until they’re gone for good.
Needless to say, it’s quite the departure from the story of the Until Dawn game, but it’s one we can get behind. The trailer is certainly entertaining enough, and promises plenty of familiar elements such as wendigos, strange apparitions, and a serial killer with a freaky mask. Peter Stormare is also reprising his role of Dr. Hill.
