You shouldn’t really need a good reason to return to the excellent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, but if you do, you can’t go wrong with its new Radical Reptiles DLC. Available now for just £3.39/$3.99, it adds two new playable characters to the game. And whether you’re familiar with them or not, they present more fun gameplay opportunities.
Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa are friends of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who both made an appearance in long-running the TV series that began in 1987. Needless to say, fans of the TV series are likely to get the most out of playing as this pair of lizards, but they’re both so instantly likable that it’s hard to imagine that anyone won’t enjoy taking control of them.
By picking up the Radical Reptiles DLC and adding Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa to your roster of playable characters in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, you’ll find that you can use them in both story and arcade modes. If you’ve picked up the Dimension Shellshock DLC you can play as them in Survival mode too, allowing you to get even more out of them and liven up that mode a little.
Like all characters in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa can be developed over time, boosting their hit points, giving them access to new special attacks and more. They’re also just as excellently animated as the rest of the cast, bringing their over-the-top antics to life.
Mondo Gecko just oozes cool as he rolls around on his skateboard, decimating a screen full of enemies with his fiery breakdancing skills when you unleash a super attack. Mona Lisa, on the other hand, is a cheerful and acrobatic fighter who doesn’t think twice about using science to gain the upper hand.
Picking up the Radical Reptiles DLC should a be a no-brainer for fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, then, but there’s even a reason to return to the game if you don’t buy it. A remixed soundtrack has been added to the game for free in its latest update, with new tracks created by the likes of Anamanaguchi, Button Masher, Tomoya Tomita and more.
If you’re a side-scrolling beat ’em up or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fan that for some reason hasn’t picked up Shredder’s Revenge yet, a new Ultimate Edition is also available that allows you to pick up the base game as well as all DLC at a bit of a discount.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Radical Reptiles is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC.
