If you like your Sims to get busy in the kitchen, the latest Stuff Pack for The Sims 4, Home Chef Hustle, should be right up your street.
Like all Stuff Packs, Home Chef Hustle primarily adds new items to The Sims 4. Here, you’ll find a bunch of new worktop kitchen appliances, like a waffle maker and a pizza oven. Cooking’s just been made a whole lot more interesting! You’ll also find new kitchen counter designs, inspired by sleek European interiors.
There’s also a bunch of new recipes that your Sims can make when they’re busy in the kitchen, from new pizzas to tasty focaccia bread. Finding the recipe you want is easier than ever, too, thanks to a new search function that’s been added.
As much as we love new stuff, though, it’s not what we like most about Home Chef Hustle. No: this Stuff Pack gives our sims a new way to earn money, and honestly, it’s a great deal of fun.
Head into the Buy menu and navigate your way to the outdoor activities section, and you’ll find something called ‘The Anywhere Any Fare Food Stand’. You’re going to want to buy this. You see, this food stand allows your sim to create their own little street food business. You can sell any type of food, prepared in your own kitchen on this stall. Stick it in a public location or in front of your own home and as long as you’ve got some tasty dishes to stock on it, you’ll be making money in no time.
Within minutes of placing the food stand in front of our modest ranch house, we had the whole neighbourhood crowding around to see what we were selling. We had, in fact, only stocked half a dozen plates of cheap dumplings, but they flew off the shelves like they were the best thing since sliced bread. Before we knew it, we were 30 simoleons richer – and it only took an hour or two. It also improved our relationships with some of our neighbours, as we got a bit of socialising in while manning the stall too.
The best thing? You don’t need to be an expert chef to set up your food stand. In fact, our fairly new sim had only cooked two meals before branching out into her Home Chef Hustle business. Did our punters mind? Absolutely not. Of course, the better you are at cooking, the more fancy the meals you’ll be able to make – but you can get started at any skill level.
You can choose the mark-up on your food, too, so you’ve got a bit of control over how much profit you can make. If you’re diligent and your sim is happy to spend a bit of time in the kitchen each day, you could feasibly make enough money doing this that there’s no reason to send them to work. Entrepreneurial sims are our favourite, and we love that there’s now a new way to earn a living.
The Sims 4 Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack is available now on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, priced at £8.99/$9.99. Find out more on the official store page.
