We have good news, and we have bad news. The good news first! A new Alien game is coming! Called Alien: Rogue Incursion, it’s in development by Survios, and it’s a single-player survival horror. The bad news? It’s VR only.
Alien: Rogue Incursion promises to be a “harrowing journey deep into the Alien universe”. It features an all-new original storyline that, according to Survios’ chief product officer, “embraces [the team’s] favourite elements from 45 years of Alien”. Besides that, however… we don’t know a great deal more.
We are excited to find out more, though. We are desperately in need of a new single-player horror-focused Alien game — but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t disappointed it’s VR only. Still, one thing’s for sure: this is going to be wholly immersive. If it’s only a quarter as atmospheric as Alien: Isolation, but in VR, it’s going to be terrifying.

Developer Survios has a strong history of developing VR games. It’s its speciality, in fact, and recently it’s worked on The Walking Dead Onslaught, Puzzle Bobble VR and Creed: Rise to Glory, amongst others.
With Alien: Romulus due out in cinemas this summer, there’s certainly a refreshed appetite for new Alien content. And hopefully Alien: Rogue Incursion will scratch that itch. While there’s an announcement trailer, which you can watch below, it reveals nothing about the game, so we’ll have to wait a little while longer before we see any gameplay.
We’ll remain hopeful, and we’ll be dusting off our VR headsets later this year to give it a try. It’s expected to release this holiday period — November or December — and it’ll be coming to PSVR 2, PC VR via Steam and Meta Quest 3.
