A year has passed since the release of Wanted: Dead, a game that we really wanted to like but it fought us every step of the way. Developer Soleil and publisher 110 Industries isn’t done with the game yet, though, having just released a second update to coincide with the game’s first anniversary. It makes some substantial changes, too.
Of course, the anniversary update for Wanted: Dead has a variety of bug fixes. There’s everything from further stability to HDR no longer turning off upon a restart. While all these fixes will cumulatively lead to better experience, there are more exciting and meaningful tweaks, however.
For a start, your first encounter with a Ninja at Dauer HQ has had a rework, with a new checkpoint added, and more stim packs have been placed throughout the level. The Ninja now has a health bar, too, and his HP and damage values have been adjusted to make the encounter more enjoyable.
Players should find themselves having an easier time overall, in fact, with stim packs now dropped by mini-bosses 100% of the time. The cover system has also been updated, with a new manual cover option for those who previously found it to be inconsistent. Perhaps the best change for some will be the game’s easy “Neko” mode being available from the outset, rather than needing to be unlocked. For those wanting more of a lenient experience it will be a godsend.
In addition to the implementation of DLSS 3.5 and FSR 2.2, the latter even available on consoles, it’s safe to say that there’s never been a better time to jump into Wanted: Dead, or return to it. Perhaps give it a try if you’re after a fast-paced action game with John Wick-style Gun Fu.
