GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen is raising money to buy eBay by auctioning off his personal collection of gaming memorabilia, sports cards, and GameStop items on eBay itself.

Earlier this week, GameStop announced a non-binding proposal to acquire eBay in a deal valued at roughly $55.5 billion, offering $125 per share in cash and stock.

The proposal quickly sparked discussion online, with many questioning how GameStop, which is significantly smaller than eBay by market value, could realistically fund the deal.

On May 6, Cohen posted on X: “I’m selling stuff on eBay to pay for eBay,” alongside a link to his personal eBay storefront.

Screenshots from Cohen’s storefront show dozens of active auction listings, including GameStop store signs, Halo collectibles, retro Nintendo games, sports cards, and company merchandise.

Among the highest-priced items shown in the listings were GameStop store signs with bidding above $11,000, a Halo 2 Master Chief statue surpassing $5,000, and a PSA 10 Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card climbing beyond $5,600.

Other listings included a GameStop-branded Mario NASCAR hood, a Vault Boy statue, rare Nintendo and Game Boy titles, and several graded baseball cards.

One screenshot from the storefront also showed a message stating: “Every item on my store includes a hand-signed ‘Letter to eBay’ as a THANK YOU for your support.”

The attached letter, dated May 3, outlined GameStop’s proposed acquisition of eBay and detailed Cohen’s plans for the company, including cost reductions and using GameStop’s retail locations as fulfillment and authentication hubs.
