Even if the Nintendo Switch 2 is priced a tad higher than some people might have expected, I have no doubt that the upcoming console will sell like hotcakes when it launches.
If you plan to pick a unit up from GameStop, you’re in for a long siege ahead of you in procuring one if this latest rumor is the real deal.
Nintendo Switch 2 GameStop Stock Won't Be Enough To Fulfill Demand
While GameStop has announced nothing, X user Nintendeal (who’s alleged to have actual contacts who work at retail stores) claims that 100 Switch 2 consoles will be available per branch. However, this could even be less depending on the GameStop branch. Not only that, but the leaker claims that Nintendo Switch 2 games and accessories will be «extremely limited,» which will further add to the stress for gamers who want the complete package at launch.
It is important to note that regardless of whether the source is reliable or has a large following, treat it with a grain of salt unless it comes from GameStop.
It looks like even with Nintendo’s anti-scalper initiative in place, it will be very, very hard to get a Switch 2 when it launches. This isn’t even factoring in whether tariffs will affect the supply chain. Currently, pre-orders will start in May, though the chances of being able to get one that way isn’t a surefire thing.
Even if the Switch 2’s reveal didn’t go as smoothly as planned, especially with some of its games confirmed to be priced higher than PS5 and Xbox Series X|S games, hype for the console hasn’t waned.
If you can’t afford a Switch 2, Nintendo suggests you get the original Switch instead, which might not be the best advice people want to hear.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available at retail on June 5, 202, and we’re expecting many disappointed Nintendo fans during the first week of June.
