The very first Funko Pops for Godzilla Minus One will debut exclusively at this year’s Anime Expo. Images and details about the Funkos have just been revealed.
Per Gizmodo, a Super Pop! Collection Godzilla Minus One figure will first be available for purchase at Funko’s Anime Expo 2025 booth in Los Angeles starting July 3 at 9 a.m. PT. It will be available online at a later date through Funko’s website, but a specific date has not been announced at this time. The Funko Pop features Toho’s iconic monster and stands at 5.4 inches tall, matching the kaiju’s other Funko figures from the rest of the Godzilla line.
The Godzilla Minus One figure will also reportedly feature a new form of authentication for purchases, with a special unique sticker on the box that cannot be replicated as a method of deterring fakes. The super-sized pop has a retail price of $20.
The new Anime Expo exclusive Godzilla Minus One Funko Pop is the first from the recent film to join the long line of other Godzilla figures. Other pops currently available on Funko’s official website include a 2016 Godzilla figure celebrating 70 Years of Godzilla, along with a special Jumbo Godzilla that sees the legendary monster holding an airplane, standing approximately 10 inches tall.
Godzilla Minus One was originally premiered in 2023 and was written, directed and featured visual effects by Takashi Yamazaki. Released to celebrate the franchise’s 70th anniversary, it grossed over $113 million worldwide against a modest $10 million budget, surpassing Shin Godzilla as the most successful Japanese Godzilla film. In addition to its box office success, the film won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards.
Last year, it was announced that a new Godzilla movie had been greenlit and that Yamazaki would return to write, direct, and handle its visual effects once more. It remains to be officially confirmed if Yamazaki’s new film will be a sequel or a standalone story at this time.
More Godzilla Content is on the Way From Yamazaki & Toho
Yamazaki’s involvement in Toho’s hugely popular Godzilla franchise is only just getting started. The Academy Award-winning director of Godzilla Minus One was recently announced to be returning for a brand-new project with Toho International. He is set to write, direct and produce VFX for Godzilla the Ride: Giant Monsters Ultimate Battle, a new attraction starring the kaiju monster.
Yamazaki shared his ambitions for the ride and its story, saying, «Where will this ride take us next? As a ride enthusiast myself, I can’t wait for my first spin, and I’m working day and night with our team to make this the most terrifying ride in the world.» The ride’s new film will be distributed around the world this summer, and it is part of a larger effort by Toho Studios to expand Godzilla content around the world. New Godzilla projects encompassing the nearly $1 billion effort from Toho are speculated to include movies, animation, games and more.
The Godzilla Minus One Funko Pop will be available at Anime Expo starting July 3.
