Grand Theft Auto 6 Fans Are Trying To Figure Out Which Shots From Trailer 2 Are Gameplay And Which Are Cutscenes

Grand Theft Auto fans have been scouring through GTA 6’s second trailer to try and figure out which bits are actual gameplay footage and not just cutscenes.

After breaking the internet with the announcement that GTA 6 has officially been delayed by a year, Rockstar decided to ease the pain a little bit with the game’s long-awaited second trailer. That huge info drop has given us far more about Grand Theft Auto 6 than most of us know what to do with, especially considering just how impressive it looks.

The second trailer was made even more interesting when Rockstar confirmed that it was made entirely in-engine and featured «equal parts» gameplay and cutscenes. While some people weren’t so impressed with Trailer 2 and think it was just a bunch of b-roll slapped together, the rest of us have been trying to figure out how that even split of gameplay and cutscenes works.

Wondering Where GTA 6's Gameplay Is? Well, Fans Might Have Figured It Out

A Few Scenes Have Been Nailed Down At Least

Considering the lack of a HUD and how much effort Rockstar put into making GTA 6 look as realistic as possible, figuring out which scenes are actual gameplay is a pretty tall order. Luckily, Rockstar fans are up to the challenge and think they’ve nailed down a few sections that are sure to be in-game footage.

The first scene that everyone agrees is likely gameplay is from the very first section of the trailer, after Jason talks to Brian and starts to walk into his house. Twitter user GermanStrands pointed out that this looks like the start of a gameplay sequence that likely lets the player take control of Jason as he walks through the door.

That’s not the most exciting bit of gameplay to nail down, but the next bet is a stronger one. As pointed out by Redditor No-Adhesiveness412, the section of the trailer that features Lucia shooting at cars and blowing them up is pure gameplay, just without any kind of user interface on top of it. It certainly looks like what we’ve seen from GTA in the past.

Considering how impressive the explosions are in this scene, it’s a little wild to think that GTA 6 is actually going to look like this when we play it in real-time.

Some other sections that appear to be edited gameplay footage include when Jason is jumping between cars, riding a motorcycle, and when he’s shown walking out of a shop with a crate of beer in his hand. Of course, the whole trailer was done in-engine, so we know GTA 6 is going to look this good at all times, but it’s nice to have an idea of some specific player-controlled segments.
