One of the very first things you’ll do in StarRupture is to build your base core. This structure protects your others from the heat waves that take place on Arcadia-7, and is essentially the mainframe of your whole base. As you begin to add more and more structures, however, you’ll need to increase the base core capacity to prevent it from overheating when completely destroying your base when a heatwave does occur. That, however, comes with its own risks. In this guide, I’ll explain everything you need to know on how to increase base core capacity in StarRupture, and what to expect when you do.
How to Increase Base Core Capacity in StarRupture
To increase your base core’s capacity, you need to walk over to the base core structure itself and press E to interact with it. This should bring up a screen where you can choose to upgrade the base core and outline the required materials you’ll need to do so. For example, to upgrade your base core to level 2, you’ll need the ing materials:
- 30 Meteor Hearts
- 7,200 Helium
- 1,800 Ceramics
- 10 Ignitium
These aren’t small amounts, nor are Helium and Ceramics materials that you’ll be able to start producing right at the beginning of the game. As such, you’ll need to take advantage of setting up multiple bases across Arcadia-7 to maximize your production efforts.
Alternatively, if you don’t have the materials to commit to upgrading your base core this substantially, you can always use ‘Base Core Amplifiers’ to increase the capacity by a small amount. Both the v.1 and v.2 Base Core Amplifiers are unlocked through the Moon Energy Corporation at level 6 and level 9 respectively.
A Base Core Amplifier will increase the capacity of every Base Core placed within its range, meaning you might be able to build another structure or two within each base depending on how close you are to maxing out their capacity already.
What Does Increasing Base Core Capacity Do?
Increasing the base core capacity essentially enables your base to take on more heat and dissipate it faster after a Rupture. This means that you can have more structures or ‘machines’ running in one base, allowing you to complete Corporation missions faster. It also means that after a Rupture, you can get them all operational much faster.

However, upgrading your base core does come with a downside. The Vermin (read: aliens) on the planet won’t take too kindly to your actions and will begin to attack your base. This will happen fairly regularly, so you’ll want to make sure you’ve unlocked the recipe to get Turrets and really strengthen your base’s defenses before you upgrade the base core. If the blue-bodied Vermin get into your base and explode, they can infect it, rendering it completely useless until you clear out the infection. That might not sound that difficult, but when your base is overwhelmed by Vermin at the same time, it’s no walk in the park.
