Take-Two Interactive has issued a cease-and-desist order to Rage:MP, one of the longest-running competitors to Rockstar-backed GTA 5 multiplayer modding platform FiveM.

The developers confirmed the shutdown in a statement published on the official Rage:MP website, revealing that Rockstar Games and Take-Two had informed them that FiveM is now “the only authorized platform for GTA V multiplayer modding.”

According to the statement, Rage:MP will now begin a “structured shutdown process,” with all community servers expected to cease operations by August 31, 2026.

“Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have made it clear that FiveM is the only authorized platform for GTAV multiplayer modding, as defined in their Platform License Agreement,” reads the statement.

The developers also confirmed that no new community servers will be accepted onto the platform, while public access to the Rage:MP server toolkit has already been discontinued.

Current server owners are being encouraged to migrate to FiveM as early as possible, with the statement adding that the team will assist with technical support during the transition.

Rage:MP’s public server listing is scheduled to shut down on June 1, 2026, before the entire platform reaches end-of-support on August 31. After that date, the developers say the game’s client, server toolkit, and backend infrastructure will all be permanently shut down.

The closure marks the end of one of GTA 5’s biggest multiplayer modding platforms outside of FiveM, which became officially owned by Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive after the acquisition of Cfx.re in 2023.

In the shutdown announcement, the developers thanked players and server owners for supporting the platform throughout its lifespan.

“All of us have put a huge amount of time and energy into building Rage:MP. Thank you for being part of this journey and for everything you’ve done to help multiplayer grow. Rage:MP was always defined more by the community than by the codebase.”
