Before you start planning your first virtual crime spree, you need to know exactly what hardware Rockstar is actually letting you carry.

Rockstar Games is clearly pushing their combat mechanics in a much heavier direction for this release. They are abandoning the logic-defying bottomless pockets of the past and introducing a highly restrictive inventory system. Before you assume you can just pull a rocket launcher out of thin air during a firefight, you need to prepare for dedicated vehicle weapon storage and a completely redesigned weapon wheel. You will only be able to carry a select few items on your person at any given time. Based on official trailers, promotional screenshots, and Ultimate Edition details, I compiled a strict list of the firearms you will be using to survive Vice City. I also separated the heavily confirmed hardware from the tools that might just be background props.
The Handgun Roster
Handguns are the foundation of your daily operations, and you will be relying on them heavily when you need to make a fast escape from a botched robbery.
| Weapon Model | Details & Expected Customization |
|---|---|
| Girardi ES9 | Jason’s signature sidearm (Beretta 92FS style). Supports extended mags, suppressors, flashlights, and tints. |
| Klose K17 | Lucia’s signature sidearm (Glock/Bersa Thunder style). Takes suppressors, optics, and extended mags. |
| Heavy Pistol M1911 | Seen with a «Capo» engraving. Upgrades include custom grips and barrel finishes. |
| Mustang .357 Revolver | Colt Python base. Spotted in the hands of a biker with custom engravings and grips. |
| Polymer Pistol | Spotted on a desk in official screens featuring a high-end gold finish. |
| Nipper .38 Revolver | Standard wheel-gun supporting basic paint finishes. |
| Hawk & Little Morgan | Ultimate Edition exclusive revolvers featuring Vice City designs. |
The Girardi ES9 and Klose K17 are clearly positioned as the default tools for Jason and Lucia respectively. If you buy the Ultimate Edition, you get highly personalized variants of these exact guns. The M1911 variant brings heavier stopping power to your holster, and the footage clearly shows it supporting unique slide engravings. The revolver category is equally fleshed out. You can stick with the standard Nipper .38 for basic shootouts, or hunt down the heavier Mustang .357 if you prefer dealing massive damage with custom grips and barrel finishes.
Shotguns And Automatic Fire
When a standard pistol fails to control an aggressive crowd, you need to pull out the heavy automatics and scatterguns.
| Weapon Model | Details & Expected Customization |
|---|---|
| Pump Action Shotgun | Standard close-quarters tool. Supports extended tubes, flashlights, and stock upgrades. |
| Double-Barreled Shotgun | Long-barrel variant seen in swamp combat. Supports wood finishes and engraved receivers. |
| Heckler & Koch SMG | Classic MP5 design. Takes scopes, suppressors, and foregrips. |
| Micro SMG & Compact SMG | Mini Uzi and Scorpion bases. Both support drum mags. Micro SMG gets a Tommy Vercetti skin via pre-order. |
| Combat MG | Heavy M249 SAW variant spotted in a gun store ad. Supports massive box magazines and optics. |
The long-barreled Double-Barreled Shotgun is a rare sight in this franchise, but an official screenshot clearly shows a man using it to fend off an alligator in the swamps. The SMG category is going to be vital for your vehicle combat. Both protagonists are seen dual-wielding the Heckler & Koch MP5 variants during a robbery. If you need absolute suppression, the Combat MG makes an appearance in a televised gun store commercial within the second trailer. This light machine gun will be your primary tool for shredding enemy vehicles during prolonged chases.
Rifles And Launchers
If your mission requires you to maintain a safe distance or clear out an entire convoy of police vehicles, you have to equip military-grade hardware.
| Weapon Model | Details & Expected Customization |
|---|---|
| Assault Rifle (AK-47) | Takes suppressors, extended magazines, drum mags, and custom finishes. |
| Carbine Rifle Variants | AR-15 platforms. Footage shows two distinct generations based on GTA 4 and GTA 5 models. |
| Service Carbine & Mk II | Retro M16 styles and heavy barrel platforms supporting precision optics. |
| Bolt Action & Assault Snipers | Remington 700 and L129A1 bases. Support variable zoom, heavy barrels, and bipods. |
| Grenade Launcher & RPG | Milkor MGL handles alternative ammo types. Standard RPG handles pure destruction. |
The Carbine Rifle situation is very interesting. One trailer shows an NPC named Raul Bautista holding a version identical to the Carbine from GTA 5, while a separate screenshot features Jason holding a model that looks exactly like the older Carbine from GTA 4. You will likely have access to multiple distinct generations of the AR-15 platform. The sniper class caters to both traditional hunters in the woods and tactical marksmen in the city limits. When precision completely fails, Lucia is prominently shown leaning out of a car window to fire a multi-shot Grenade Launcher directly at pursuing police units.
Throwables, Melee, And The Unconfirmed Props
Combat in Vice City is not strictly about pulling triggers. You have access to a wide array of explosives and blunt objects, though you need to be careful about what is actually usable versus what is just environmental set dressing.
| Item Name | Confirmed Status & Usage |
|---|---|
| Molotov | Confirmed. Delivers severe area denial fire damage. |
| Grenades & Flashbangs | Confirmed. Standard explosive damage and immediate crowd disorientation. |
| Speargun | Confirmed. Built specifically for the heavily updated underwater combat system. |
| Hammer & Knife | Confirmed. The hammer is clearly being brandished aggressively in official trailer clips. |
| Golf Club & Pool Cue | Unconfirmed. Spotted in the hands of NPCs during recreational activities. Might not be usable weapons. |
The throwable selection provides total tactical control. The Molotov handles area denial, Smoke Grenades allow you to break sightlines, and Flashbangs let you clear out tight spaces without getting rid of everyone inside.
The melee category is where things get slightly murky. Standard tools like the Knife, the Crowbar, and the Baseball Bat are locked in. The Hammer is fully confirmed as a weapon, prominently featured in an aggressive trailer scene. However, before you assume you can weaponize every single item in the city, you need to look closer at the footage. We see NPCs handling a standard Golf Club, a mini golf club, and a Pool Cue. These items are strictly shown in a recreational manner during background activities. It is currently unclear if you can actually rip a club out of a golfer’s hands to use in a street fight, or if they are simply locked background animations. Either way, your bare fists remain a highly viable option when you run completely out of ammunition.
