Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has revealed GTA data to prevent a sandwich shop called Vice City Subs from opening.
Rockstar Games has always been incredibly protective of its IP, shutting down many popular fan-made projects over the years, and not even sandwich shops are safe.
As reported by GameFile, Take-Two took action against a trademark application for a shop called Vice City Subs. Vice City will be one of the main locations in the upcoming GTA 6, along with the fictional state of Leonida.
Unfortunately for sandwich fans, this shop doesn’t appear to be coming, and the GTA owner even revealed data about one of the games in the franchise in its legal argument.

Filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on February 13, 2026, the document sees Take-Two Interactive outlining the legacy and commercial weight of the “Vice City” brand within the Grand Theft Auto series. Tucked inside the legal paperwork, however, was a detail the publisher hasn’t publicly shared in almost 20 years.
The filing confirms that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories has surpassed 7 million copies sold worldwide since launching on PlayStation Portable in 2006.

The last official update on the game’s performance came back in March 2008, when Take-Two pegged sales at 4.5 million units. That means the PSP prequel has quietly added roughly 2.5 million more copies in the years since, without any public announcement.
For a spin-off that often gets overshadowed by the mainline entries, Vice City Stories has clearly continued to find an audience long after its original release.

Given the fact that GTA 6 will see a return to Vice City, it’s also possible that Vice City Subs ends up being an actual location in-game, similar to Burger Shot or Cluckin’ Bell.
Just don’t expect to see the sandwich shop open up in real life.
