Gwyneth Paltrow revealed her latest controversial wellness plan, claiming that the new habits are helping her maintain her beauty in her 50s. Some of these protocols are non-negotiable for the GOOP founder, as she revealed on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast.

So, what are her new habits? The Iron Man actress now eats her dinner before 6 p.m., sleeps in a cold bedroom around 8 p.m., and takes protein supplements 70 times a day for bone health. And she likes to take cold showers before she sleeps. She shared with Poehler:

I have to take a bath every night. Have to. Non-negotiable. And if there’s not a bathtub, then I have to shower. Like, I got to get the day off with water.

Paltrow’s controversial way of living has received several criticisms over the years. Her habits have been flagged by various health experts as unhealthy. So, it is no wonder that fans might take her health advice with a pinch of salt. But that didn’t stop Poehler from questioning her on health and wellness topics.

Gwyneth Paltrow explained to Amy Poehler about her early dinner routine, sharing, “And I think part of my good sleep routine is eating dinner early. So, not going to bed on a full stomach.” Speaking about her dinner reservations, the Shakespeare in Love actress confessed, “I did 5:45 last night,” adding that she was the first person in the restaurant.

When Poehler asked if she wanted to be in bed by 8 o’clock, Paltrow replied, “Is there anything better?” About her sleeping conditions, Paltrow shared that she set her thermostat temperatures chillingly low at night. She shared, “Well, the older I get, the colder I like it. I like, you know, in the 60s.”

The two celebrities then discussed bone density, which was a major issue for women above 50. Paltrow shared, “We’re gonna talk to our doctor about potential estrogen supplementation. We’re gonna do heavy weights, lots of heavy weights.” She mentioned that she did her weight training on her Pilates Reformer machine.

Poehler was taken aback when Paltrow talked about her protein intake. She shared, “And we’re gonna gag down protein 70 times a day.” She believed that the massive protein consumption helped combat age-related muscle loss. She consumed it through a bone broth and shared about the protein solution:

It’s fantastic for your gut. It’s full of protein and collagen, all the things. I’ll have it as like a cup of tea in the afternoon. That’s my favorite way to have it.

She also shared that she quit drinking alcohol, but remained a big fan of coffee. She even took a dig at people who switched to almond and oat milk, sharing, “I’m not the alt milk queen.” She even mocked her previous macrobiotic diet of the 2000s, sharing:

Yeah, that was a great phase where it was like cigarettes and tofu with the brown rice and the seaweed. Like, I don’t know what I was just trying to integrate.

Paltrow successfully built a $250 million brand out of GOOP, despite the criticisms against her company. She built a loyal community over time and embraced the controversy as a marketing tool.

Gwyneth Paltrow turned the negative attention and criticism against her brand into marketing and merchandising. She connected with her audience through word-of-mouth tactics and marketed her brand to them. Paltrow’s brand originally started as a weekly newsletter of lifestyle advice and recipes that she emailed to her family and friends.

It later expanded into e-commerce, selling fashion and wellness items. It was criticized for selling products and treatments that were allegedly based on pseudoscience. Goop was sued for false advertising by the Consumer Protection Office in California, but settled the lawsuit out of court.

Paltrow went on to sell infamous products, like her candle, which she named ‘This Smells Like My V-gina.’ Despite the controversy, the $75 million item sold out like hot cakes. Paltrow has a podcast, and she promoted her company through a Netflix show.
