The original continuity of Transformers introduced many classic characters, as well as others who are comparatively far more obscure. Now, an upcoming set of multiple Decepticons and an electric fiend are set to put the character back into the dramatic spotlight.
Takara Tomy’s upcoming Transformers Dramatic Capture Series Decepticons Part 1 set eschews Megatron or Starscream in favor of «two» others: Thundercracker and Reflector. Along with these four figures, the set also includes a notable energy being from the second season of the classic cartoon. Hasbro’s fifth release in the series, this toy is certainly a sight for sore eyes, especially for fans of the somewhat esoteric Reflector.
Thundercracker, Reflector & Even Kremzeek! Join Transformers Dramatic Capture Series
As with previous releases, the newest set for the Transformers Dramatic Capture Series is based on specific scenes and characters from the 1984 cartoon The Transformers. In particular, it seems to homage a scene where Thundercracker sought to see what fellow Decepticon Reflector could see. Repackaged versions of previous toys from the Transformers: War for Cybertron Netflix anime toy line, these figures are still the perfect updates to their Generation 1 counterparts. Thundercracker comes with twin null-ray cannons that can be attached to his arms in robot mode or the underside of his wings in his F-15 Eagle alternate mode. Team Reflector still includes Spectro, Spyglass and Viewfinder, with each one having their own blaster in robot mode. Along with «artillery hovercraft alternate modes» of their own, they can combine into a camera alt-mode, with pieces of the camera hanging off them in robot mode like armor.
Another set of accessories are circles meant to represent blasters that can be attached to the stomachs of each Reflector robot. Along with the Decepticons, the set also contains a small miniature figurine of Kremzeek, who’s actually not a Transformer. This energy being was seen in the eponymous episode of The Transformers Season 2, and the electric demonoid was briefly seen vexing the Autobots. The set can now be pre-ordered online through websites such as Hasbro Pulse for US$149.99, with the figures intended for release on March 1, 2026. It’s unlikely that most brick and mortar retailers in the West will carry the toy, but fans have almost a year to order one online for themselves. The War for Cybertron figure was one of the first Reflector toys in years, with the character being one of the more forgotten G1 Decepticons. Thundercracker, on the other hand, is almost always seen as a repaint of a pre-existing toy for fellow Decepticon Seeker, Starscream. This set overall is titled as «Decepticons Part 1,» suggesting that other iconic scenes and teamups will be represented in the line later.
