Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone is no longer releasing any updates for his beloved farming game. Instead, the indie developer is putting all of this effort into Haunted Chocolatier, the long in-development successor that offers a much different experience.
Very little is known about the upcoming cosy game, although it will be considerably more action focused than its predecessor. However, one fact is now concrete: the game will be much larger than what players experienced in Stardew Valley.
Haunted Chocolatier will have a big game world
Speaking to fans on Twitter, Barone broke his usual social media silence to tease new information about the upcoming game to diehard fans.
“The world of Haunted Chocolatier is larger than Stardew Valley,” the game developer wrote.
Of course, Barone didn’t reveal just how much bigger the new game will be compared to Stardew Valley, just that it will be bigger. However, considering the game’s more action, dungeon-crawling focus, there should be considerably more to explore.
Whatever the case, the world of Stardew Valley is fun to explore with tonnes of little details that only an indie developer spending years on a passion project tends to focus on. Hopefully, despite its bigger size, Haunted Chocolatier will have the same penchant for making the little details pop.
Barone isn’t planning to rush his next major release, and it likely won’t release anytime soon. In fact, the title is likely quite a few years away. However, after spending nearly all of last year working on the game, the developer has made a considerable amount of headway on the title.
The popularity of Stardew Valley has caused an explosion in popularity for the cosy, farming game genre, but no game does it quite like Stardew. It’s exciting to see Barone still chipping away at his next title – even if it means that Stardew Valley 2 could be decades away from releasing.
