‘He Wanna Be a Ninja Turtle’: Former Little Caesars Employee Accused of Breaking Into Restaurant and Selling Pizzas in North Carolina

Say cheese!

A man in Kinston, North Carolina, got in trouble with the law after he allegedly broke into a Little Caesars and started selling pizzas. He was a former employee of the restaurant and is accused of pocketing the sales.

According to WITN, the incident occurred on Sunday, February 1. The man, 41-year-old Jonathan Hackett, is said to have been an ex-employee at the Little Caesars located on Vernon Avenue. However, his job status didn’t deter him from his love for the cheese, in every sense of the word.

Turns out, the North Carolina man had entered the restaurant not once, but twice, according to the Kinston Police Department.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they were informed that Hackett had allegedly entered the restaurant, made some pizzas, and sold them to customers. He is accused of keeping the proceeds, which, according to WITN, amount to a whopping $50.

Then, in the second instance of breaking in, the restaurant was actually occupied, police say. The other employees, potentially his former coworkers, then reportedly prevented him from entering the restaurant and pulling his pizza-selling scheme. This resulted in a physical altercation, and Hackett had to be treated at a local hospital.

Arrested For Pizzas, Reactions

After his injuries were treated at UNC Lenoir Health Care, the North Carolina man was arrested and taken to Lenoir County Jail. He is charged with felony breaking and/or entering, felony obtaining property by false pretenses, felony larceny after breaking and entering, misdemeanor breaking and entering, and a city curfew violation.

It was very strange, you know, it’s nothing I’d ever heard of,” Kinston Police Chief Keith Goyette told WITN. “It’s nothing we’ve ever seen, you know, in my 26 years of law enforcement here in Kinston. So, this was a head scratcher and a first for us.”

Chief Goyette is not the only one scratching his head. While the police limited the comments on its Facebook post, many users shared the news, claiming that they had purchased a pizza from Hackett, saying that they were glad that justice was delivered, one way or another.

See Kinston… Y’all are a whole different kinda crazy,” one user commented. Another netizen wrote, “He wanna be a Ninja Turtle bad, don’t he?” A third added, “I literally bought a pizza for $10 from this clown! I thought Little Caesars was actually open!

It’s safe to say that Hackett won’t be working for the pizza chain any time soon. If he thinks “third time’s the charm,” then the employees will have to, yet again, deal with him, non-peacefully.
