- Garden, Fish, Cook, Sell, And Repeat
Here is a fact-based summary of the story contents:
When you first start Heartopia, you might be lulled into a false sense of seemingly unlimited funds because there are so many starter quests to complete, all of which reward a decent amount of Gold. That said, once you’ve progressed a fair bit and escaped what is sort of the tutorial of the game, money won’t roll in quite the way it did before, which means it’s up to you to start earning it.
Thankfully, like most games like this, Heartopia has plenty of ways for you to earn money. So, whether you want to earn money doing something you enjoy or are willing to work on something you don’t like to make quick cash, there are ways to do that. That said, the options vary slightly depending on how far into the game you are.
Make Money By Combining Hobbies
Garden, Fish, Cook, Sell, And Repeat

Almost as soon as you start the game, you should unlock the first hobby, which is Fishing. This hobby allows you to fish in any body of water in Heartopia. The next hobby you’ll unlock is Gardening, where you plant various crops around your house, which you can then harvest and either cook or sell.
From there, the next time you can unlock a hobby, you’ll have to choose between three options, but you’ll still get the others later. The options you’ll have to choose from are Cooking, Bug Catching, and Bird Watching. There’s not technically a wrong answer, but if earning money is your goal, you should select Cooking over the other two hobbies.

Once you have all three of these hobbies unlocked, you’ve got a few options for making Gold. The most obvious is that you can sell your crops and fish raw. That said, you can make significantly more money by selling dishes you prepared with your crops and fish.
The game will guide you on how to buy and plant seeds, but make sure you expand your garden beyond that when you can. Different crops will have different harvest requirements, which means some will grow faster than others, which is why you must plant as many as you can in one go and harvest them as soon as they’re ready.
Don’t forget to farm the trees and bushes around Heartopia for resources. It’s free, if you don’t count the damage to your equipment, and the fruit you collect can be used to make Jam.
Once your crops are growing, it’s time to fish. As mentioned, you can fish in any of the spots around Heartopia, but fishing in the ocean tends to yield the best fish, so I’d recommend finding a shore or heading down south to where you’ll find several long docks over plenty of fishing spots.
Before you head off to fish, make sure you craft some Repair Kits and Bait. Both can be made with items you find just outside your house, and bringing a supply of both with you will mean fewer trips back and forth from your fishing spot.
Once you’re able to harvest your crops and have a good supply of fish, head to a stove and get cooking. The recipes you’ll have access to will depend on how far along you are in your cooking hobby, but almost any meal prepared with your ingredients is going to yield a higher profit when sold than if you just sold them as is.

Once you’ve prepared what you can, you’re free to sell it off to Albert Jr., whom you should’ve been introduced to at the start of the game. If you happen to have ingredients that didn’t fit into a recipe, you can sell them as is. However, unless you’re desperate for funds immediately, it’s better to hold off until you have a recipe they’ll work in.
Albert Jr. is constantly on the move and one of the only NPCs that isn’t found in one spot the majority of the time. He typically walks in a circle around the town, so you’ll need to track him down when you’re ready to sell something. That said, you can always locate him on your map, and if he’s too far to walk or drive, you can always take the bus for 200 Gold.
Some of the best dishes to sell for quick funds are:
- Jam — Better for early game/players with little money since ingredients can be collected around Heartopia. Different types equal different sale prices.
- Ratatouille – Best early game recipe to sell. The ingredients are simple, and the profit is high.
- Fish and Chips
- Cheesecake
- Seafood Pizza
- Corn Soup
- Carrot Cake
- Meat Sauce Pasta

Keep in mind that recipes will unlock as you progress in the Cooking hobby. So, if you want to unlock more recipes, you’ll need to cook more. Similarly, if you want to improve your Gardening and Fishing, you’ll need to level those up as well. The higher your level, the better the items earned from each hobby will be, which in turn means a higher profit when sold to Albert Jr.
Other Methods Of Earning Money

In addition to the method above, which is the best way to earn money in almost every cozy life-sim, there are a few other ways to earn money. Firstly, be sure to complete all daily and weekly requests, as these help progress the game as well as provide monetary rewards.

The other methods of earning money quickly, especially early on, are simply to sell anything you can. For example, once you do eventually unlock the Bug Catching hobby, you’ll also be able to sell insects for money. Also, don’t forget that some things can be sold back. For example, you may want to complete puzzles as part of the game, but you can actually sell them back completed, for a profit.
Be sure to check your mailbox and keep up with rewards earned through events as well, as these often provide monetary rewards that must be collected in a specific time window.
Unfortunately, there’s no true get-rich-quick method, as all the options will require at least some amount of hard work if you hope to see substantial profits. That said, once you’ve put in the work, you won’t have to grind to level up the hobbies anymore and can instead just continue to reap the rewards, which will make it much easier to maintain your wealth.
