Rainbow Six Siege X is testing the new Armor and Speed changes through the Testing Grounds within the game. And to be frank, it certainly changes how we play the game altogether.

On top of that, the updated system allows deeper operator customization, letting us tailor characters to suit our preferred playstyle. Whether you like to play fast and aggressive or slow and methodical, the new Armor system makes that flexibility possible. Here’s everything you need to understand.

For a long time, Rainbow Six Siege has relied on a simple three-tier system for Armor and Speed. Faster operators came with lower armor, while heavily armored ones moved more slowly. Now, that formula is changing, and it’s about to get far more complex than before.

With the newest Armor system, it’s not divided into five tiers, and each speed rating will have three options to pick from. The armor picks will mostly impact your health rating, with a slight impact on speed. Here’s how each armor rating will work:

Armor Type Speed Health Point
Light Armor Fastest 70 HP
Tactical Armor Fast 90 HP
Medium Armor Normal 110 HP
Heavy Armor Slow 130 HP
Juggernaut Armor Slower 150 HP

If an operator has a 3-speed rating, then the options are: Light, Tactical, and Medium. For the 2-speed rating, the options are: Tactical, Medium, and Heavy. And lastly, for 1-speed rating operators, the options are: Medium, Heavy, and Juggernaut.

No matter which operator you pick, the Medium armor can be picked regardless. In the end, the armor pick choices depend on the speed rating of operators.

The New Armor System Could Enhance Rainbow Six Siege’s Dynamics

The Speed and Armor changes for Rainbow Six Siege X haven’t rolled out yet, as Ubisoft is just testing them. However, it would be added to the game in the future.

Well, this won’t be the first time Ubisoft is tweaking the Armor and Speed system in Rainbow Six Siege, but it surely seems impactful. Giving players the choice to tweak their playstyle accordingly seems like a great move. At least, for now.

Furthermore, plays can now ramp up certain operators to stick around longer, or speed them up for hard and fast entry. Both approaches come with clear trade-offs, but the real advantage depends entirely on the player’s skill set and preferred playstyle when stepping into the role.

Rainbow Six Siege was always a dynamic game, and with the Armor system introduction, it would get quite complex. But no one’s complaining, as that’s exactly what players have been waiting for.
