Hit Netflix TV Show Expands Season 2 Cast With Shameless Actor

Netflix has confirmed new casting details for the second season of its hit Western drama Ransom Canyon, as production continues in New Mexico. The upcoming installment expands the show’s family dynamics and power rivalries with the addition of a major new character. It marks the streamer’s next chapter in the sweeping romantic saga following the success of its debut season.

Steve Howey joins the cast of Ransom Canyon Season 2

Steve Howey joins Netflix’s Ransom Canyon Season 2 as a recurring guest star. He plays Levi, the half-brother of Staten Kirkland, portrayed by Josh Duhamel. Levi “lives off the land” and is described as “a mountain man of sorts” (via Variety). Netflix has begun production for the second season at its Albuquerque studios, continuing the show’s focus on the power struggles among Ransom Canyon’s ranching families.

Howey gained fame playing Kevin Ball across all 11 seasons of Showtime’s Shameless. He also appeared in Reba, True Lies, and currently stars as Captain Nick Wagner in ABC’s High Potential. Although committed to High Potential, Howey balances both projects since his Ransom Canyon role is recurring. He also appears in Prime Video’s upcoming Off Campus adaptation and CBS’s Brilliant Minds.

Alongside Duhamel, the returning cast for Season 2 includes Minka Kelly as Quinn, Philip Winchester as Sheriff Brigman, Lizzy Greene as Lauren, Garrett Wareing as Lucas, Marianly Tejada as Ellie, Jack Schumacher as Yancy, and Casey W. Johnson as Kit. Newly announced cast members include Patricia Clarkson as Quinn’s mother, Claire O’Grady. The season also adds Ben Robson, Heidi Engerman, Tatanka Means, and Justin Johnson Cortez.

The upcoming season will follow the aftermath of Season 1’s events, as ranching dynasties continue to vie for control of Ransom Canyon. The official logline states that “new faces arrive, threatening the lives and loves of this quaint, western town.” Series creator April Blair serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Dan Angel and Bradley Gardner, with Duhamel and Kelly also credited as executive producers. Netflix plans to premiere Season 2 in 2026.
