How Chaos Theory Season 3 Ties Into Jurassic World Rebirth

How Chaos Theory Season 3 Ties Into Jurassic World Rebirth

The following contains spoilers for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3, now streaming on Netflix.

As the Jurassic World franchise builds on the Jurassic Park movies, fans learned a lot more about the science and technology being used courtesy of Netflix. It came via the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous animated series. That has now evolved into Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, which speaks to how sinister corporations exploit the revival of these creatures for the black market.

Chaos Theory Season 3 runs parallel to Jurassic World Dominion, revealing more about Biosyn’s shady deals and the black market. More about the underworld, trading and criminal rings is divulged, too. However, there are tie-ins that go beyond what Owen and Claire did in Dominion when they shut down the Malta market and Biosyn’s valley. These plot threads foreshadow what’s to come in Jurassic World Rebirth regarding medical applications for dinosaurs.

Chaos Theory Plays Up Mutations In Dinosaurs

Jurassic World Rebirth Will Have Scary Mutant Dinosaurs

In Chaos Theory Season 2, fans saw the evil Soyona Santos running a secret lab in Senegal. There, Dr. Sarr made a blind leucitic Baryonyx that had enhanced hunting skills, and the lab was blown up to remove evidence of genetic tampering. In Season 3, Soyona hints again that other labs exist around the world where cloning, breeding hybrids and other nasty experiments were taking place.

She doesn’t expound too much. But this is the creative anchor of Rebirth. There, Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett will lead a field team to head to the island where the first dinosaur experiments were made. They need to extract valuable dinosaur DNA, only to run into trouble as these are the biggest, most dangerous creatures around. There will also be mutated, failed dinosaur experiments that have thrived in isolation for decades.

Chaos Theory Season 3 portends that and builds on what happened in Season 2. Fans have already seen an alien-looking dinosaur in the Rebirth trailer. From what Soyona has said, it looks like there will be a lot more when Zora’s team finds more than they bargained for. It’s a subtle hint that diehard franchise fans would recognize. Clearly, Rebirth is angling for an island of horror, and Soyona basically says there are more sites like this that would blow fans’ minds.

Chaos Theory Nods to Dinosaur Cures and Biomedical Usage

How Chaos Theory Season 3 Ties Into Jurassic World Rebirth

The Rebirth film is all about Zora’s team extracting the DNA alongside Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist. The goal is to use this DNA for a pharmaceutical company. They want the bio-material that can make a revolutionary drug capable of saving countless human lives. In Chaos Theory Season 3, Biosyn boss, Lewis Dodgson, cameos and talks about how the bio-material from dinosaurs can do so much more.

He speaks to the Handler (the Whistle Woman) and has her intimidate certain scholars around the world to endorse Biosyn. Many don’t believe in the ethics of the company, mentioning how genetic cloning and tampering can create weapons. However, Dodgson and other quick shots of news articles mention things like making drugs. Clearly, Biosyn is ambitious and has a bigger endgame. It wouldn’t happen in Dominion as Dodgson dies and Biosyn falls apart. Their valley becomes a sanctuary for dinosaurs to live and remain secluded.

Chaos Theory Season 3 ending with Soyona’s arrest further emphasizes that some scientific companies are out there interested in more than just having or making dinosaurs. More appropriation can be achieved according to the rhythm and cadence of the villain in question. Ultimately, Dodgson and Soyona’s conversation is holstered, but it teases what Rupert Friend’s Martin Krebs will be doing in Rebirth as the man who hires Zora’s squad.

All three seasons of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory are streaming on Netflix. Jurassic World Rebirth hits theaters on Jul. 2.
