Venturing topside in ARC Raiders is always an adventure full of thrilling challenges, whether you’re out to scavenge as much loot as possible or you want to focus on bringing the fight to ARC’s fleet of deadly machines.
One particular type of challenge in the game that strongly encourages both is Night Raids. If you’ve seen this mode pop up on your map now and then, but aren’t sure what it entails, here’s an in-depth explanation of how Night Raids work in ARC Raiders.
What are Night Raids in ARC Raiders?
Night Raids are a unique timed event mode in ARC Raiders that, as their name suggests, take place only at night. Aside from unlocking the regular maps where they can take place, there are no other pre-requisites you need to be able to participate.
In a basic sense, Night Raids are essentially the same as regular raids you embark on during the day. Search and scavenge all the loot that you can carry, evade and/or take out ARC machines that impede your progress, be mindful of fellow Raiders in the same area, and escape back to Speranza before the timer runs out.
Of course, there are a few specific differences that make Night Raids the unique challenge that they are. Firstly, the ARC presence will be heavier than normal. You’ll want to have some of your best weaponry equipped and ready, as running into some of these hostile machines will be all but inevitable.
The other key difference that makes Night Raids especially challenging is that, along with fewer Return Points, there are no Raider Hatches available to use (so don’t bring any of your keys). This means players on the map will be forced to funnel to the only return points that are accessible, making the possibility of conflict greater. There is always the lucky chance that you run into folks who opt to be pacifists, but be prepared nonetheless.
What makes Night Raids worth it all though is the increased loot value. Everything you pick up will be worth more upon returning to Speranza. Make sure to have enough space in your Stash for everything you bring back. Also consider expanding your Safe Pocket slots, if possible, to ensure your most valuable loot makes it back safely.
How Often Do Night Raids Happen in ARC Raiders?
As mentioned previously, Night Raids can happen on most of the maps in ARC Raiders, including Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, and The Blue Gate. You should see a Night Raid icon below each map selection (as seen above) along with a ticking timer.
If the Night Raid option for a specific map is greyed out, that means the raid is not yet accessible. The timer that’s shown when that occurs indicates the time until the next Night Raid for that map becomes available. In other words, if the timer reflects 30 minutes, that means the next Night Raid will become available in 30 minutes.
However, when a Night Raid is active (meaning you can select it and then hit ‘Confirm’), the timer that’s shown at that point indicates the time you have to enter until the raid goes on cooldown. Once it does, Night Raids generally refresh every couple of hours (real time), give or take. Each map will have its own timer, so while one Night Raid is inactive, at least one other one should be available to you at all times.
