Knowing how to craft a bow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds is incredibly useful as it will let you engage in ranged combat. Through this you’ll not only be able to take out enemies from afar, but hunt animals like deer.
Sadly, Lowe’s Archery Emporium is yet to set up a store in Ashenfall. This means you’ll need to craft the bow yourself and there’s a number of requirements to meet in RuneScape: Dragonwilds before you do so.

How to craft a bow in RuneScape Dragonwilds
If you want to craft a bow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you first need to build a Spinning Wheel. This recipe will unlock after you’ve picked Flax for the first time. Flax can be easily found in the Bramblemead Valley and Temple Woods. We found that the village ruins in Bramblemead to be an excellent place to find Flax. Just keep an eye out for the blue plant and, don’t worry, it will grow back after a couple of days.
A Spinning Wheel must be placed in a shelter and requires the following items:
- 12 Ash Logs
- 4 Flax
- 2 Stone
We highly recommend picking some extra Flax as you’ve got another step to go before you can start bow crafting. Namely, you’ll need to use the Spinning Wheel to create at least one Coarse Thread. Simply pop some Flax on your Spinning Wheel and wait for it to be created. You only need one Flax to make one Coarse Thread, but you’ll need more to make your bow.
Once this item has been made, you’ll be able to craft an Ash Shortbow at the craftbench. Along with an Ash Battlestaff. Remember — Dragonwilds is still in Early Access and, while you can use a bow, you won’t be able to unlock any extra bonuses for this combat skill unlike Attack (melee combat). It will hopefully be added in the future.
To craft an Ash Shortbow you’ll need:
- 12 Ash Logs
- 3 Coarse Thread
We’ve already taught you how to make Coarse Thread and Ash Trees aren’t hard to find at all. This is very much your starting bow, exploring Ashenfall may lead you to finding stronger bows!
You can’t use a bow without arrows though and the first arrow recipe you’ll unlock is Stone Arrow. You’ll create 33 Stone Arrows at one time with the following resources:
- 1 Stone
- 1 Ash Log
- 1 Feather
Feathers can be easily found by killing chickens. (You’ll also get some meat to eat too.) Like with Flax, they can easily be found roaming about the village ruins in Bramblemead Valley.
Like with the bows, you’ll unlock new and better types of arrows as you progress through Dragonwilds. Make sure you’re updating your arrows every time you unlock a new type so you don’t fall short. Just make sure you’re equipping your arrows by right-clicking on them in your backpack. If you don’t do this, then you won’t have anything to shoot with!
Congrats — you’ve got your bow! Now you can use ranged attacks on those pesky goblins and hunt deer for their antlers!
